I bought tis lens for closed-up work in low light conditions. I am really surprised about clear pictures one can get. Build quality of lens is great and will last for years to come.

This lens is easier to use and has more features than a more costly Canon lens which I used with my Canon Rebel, a camera I no longer have. The only complaint that I have is that the focus lock moves into the "lock" position to easily which keeps the camera from focusing either manually or automatically.

If you're looking for a medium-focal-length aspherical (flat-field) macro lens, get one of these while you can; it appears that Pentax is phasing it out. This lens must be one of the best-kept secrets of the Pentax line: it is in the low-to-middle segment of their price range, but is similar in quality (optically speaking) to some of their higher-priced lenses, and to similar Pentax-mount macro lenses made by other manufacturers (Sigma, Tamron.) Most photographers (including me) rely pretty heavily on zoom lenses for ordinary subjects, but every photographer should have at least one "prime" (fixed focal-length) lens - for any given focal length, they are usually much sharper - and, being a true macro lens, this one is a great value.
