This review is from: Pentax ZX-L Date AF SLR (Body Only) (Electronics)
I have only owned this camere about 3 months, so far I absolutely love this Pentax ZX-L, I own A Minolta, Olympus OM-1, OlympusOM-4. Not that this other cameras are bad. but this pentax is such a joy to operate, It's lite, exposure is very acurate, you need to to feel and look through the viewfinder to experience the ease of functionality. I recomend this camera to anyone how loves to take photos as much as I do.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pentax ZX-L Date AF SLR (Body Only) (Electronics)
I bought this camera body and added a Promaster wide angle 28-105 lens from a local camera shop. I used this contraption, mostly, usually in automatic mode for a good 4-5 years. I mostly took reference photos for drawings that I did in art school.Like I said, I used it almost exclusively in automatic mode, but there WERE times when I felt I needed to switch it over to manual to get the shot I needed. To do this just took a few clicks: rotate the wheel to M, switch from AF to MF on the front, and disengage the lens from whatever connection it had to the camera's motor/brain. Inside the viewfinder is a guide to tell you if you have correct exposure and focus. The camera lets you know if the shot will be under or over-exposed and digitally displays the shutter speed that you have currently set. It's pretty fool proof, even in manual mode! The flash pops up automatically when the camera senses it is necessary, but it is conveniently located to just hold it down with your left hand if you don't want it to fire. The flash can be removed from the hot shoe and a larger, more professional flash can be added. Loading film was simple and the batteries seem to last FOREVER. I've had this camera for nearly 10 years now and I think I've only had to replace the batteries 4 times. The camera body itself is not heavy, but lenses (glass) quickly add weight. The construction is SOLID. This is not a delicate camera and you don't have to treat it like dainty crystal. If you're looking for an easy-to-use film SLR camera with a modest variety of settings, this is a great choice.
