Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Encased in an elegantly designed body, the IQZoom 150SL combines ultra-compact dimensions and a super long zoom lens of 38-150mm (four-times). Combine this with a long list of advanced functions and user-friendly features and you have an outstanding camera package. Not bad for one of the most compact and lightweight models in its 150mm compact zoom category.
  • The stylish, slim, and ultra-compact body of the IQZoom 150SL is made of a high-quality aluminum for a stunning appearance and reduced weight.
  • The impressive 38mm-150mm (4x) power zoom lens features a high-performance optical design and an aspherical lens element to deliver top quality images.
  • When shooting multiple subjects that are apart and off-center, the passive 5-point autofocus system aims at five separate points to determine the optimum setting and capture the subjects in sharp and clear detail.
  • Assisted by the sophisticated multi-pattern metering system, the IQZoom 150SL's auto-exposure system automatically produces beautifully exposed images frame after frame.
  • The large LCD panel provides the user with a full range of information on the camera's operation status at a quick glance, thus facilitating speedy, effortless operation. It is automatically illuminated in the dark to make data reading easier.
  • To ensure that all your subjects look beautiful and clear-eyed, the IQZoom 150SL offers red-eye reduction which reduces the red-eye effect that may appear in your subject's eyes with flash use.
  • Automatic backlight compensation fires the flash during backlight conditions to properly expose the subject.
  • The "Actual Image" zoom viewfinder automatically displays the framing area according to the zoom ratio and normal/panorama mode. It is equipped with a diopter adjuster of -3.0 - +1.0 m-1 to match the image to your eyesight.
  • Spot autofocus keeps your subject in focus, even when it's off in the background and other subjects are in the foreground.
  • Infinity-landscape mode fixes the focus at infinity, delivering a perfect balance of range and sharpness, even when shooting through glass or a fence.
  • With the fail-safe film handling, the IQZoom 150SL advances the film to the first frame and sets the ISO film speed with DX-coded film automatically.
  • The user can switch the picture format from standard to panorama at any frame (even mid-roll) with a simple turn of the panorama lever. The panorama format produces dramatic eye catching images ideal for landscapes and group photos.
  • The self-timer mode allows you time to get into the picture. It releases the shutter ten seconds after pressing. The optional remote control provides even more control, releasing the shutter with a three-second delay.
  • The date version of the IQZoom 150SL lets you imprint the date or day and time on your photographs when selected. There are five different settings from which to choose, including a blank setting.
  • When the camera is left unused for three minutes with the power on, the IQZoom 150SL retracts the lens to the wide-angle position to protect it from damage and shuts off the power - all automatically.

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat disappointing!, December 31, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pentax IQ Zoom 150 SL Date 35mm Camera (Electronics)
We purchased this camera about a month ago. All the reviews we read at numerous sites indicated it was a good choice. This camera only seems to take crisp, clear pictures when you are outdoors in relatively sunny weather. The worse the light, the worse the picture quality. One of the biggest things that bothered us was how bad the red eye was. On the same occassions I was using my digital camera and an SLR camera which resulted in little to no red eye. The Pentax had noticable red eye in every picture, each time we used it on people or animals indoors.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!, July 23, 2003

This review is from: Pentax IQ Zoom 150 SL Date 35mm Camera (Electronics)
I am a college grad. I got this camera because for months i had been using one (a good but cheap aps fuji) that had no zoom. I wanted something that could zoom. and boy can this zoom!

i love it. most of the pictures i have taken have come out great. from what i can see it has good battery life too!

I HAVE EVEN TAKE GREAT PICTURES OF FIREWORKS AND NIGHTSCAPES!!(no flash needed)

Highly recommened.

please note the one downside is the TINY viewfinder so beware if you ware glasses as i do. it does have an adjustable diopter but its more pain then its worth, just keep your glasses on.
