You End Up Missing The Shot!,
By
This review is from: Pentax IQ Zoom EZY-R 35mm Zoom Camera (Electronics)
I bought this camera a year ago and am not happy. First of all, when you press on the button to take the picture, you have to hold it down for several seconds before it even snaps the picture! If you've ever tried to capture that "moment", this is not the camera for you-the moment will have already passed by the time the camera takes the picture. Also, when you zoom in to take a picture, say, of a baby's face, it cuts the head off-the window is not true to what you get. When you take pictures with this camera, be sure to allow about a centimeter or so around what the camera shows to be your picture, otherwise, you'll always get shopped off heads, etc. It does take good clean pictures, if you're interested in it for scenery-great, for people-not so great.

This is the worst camera I have ever purchased!,

I've had a terrible experience with this camera. I've only had it for four months and it's already broken. Let me just say that it never worked well to begin with. At least 1/3 of my pictures are not in focus. I thought that it was just me holding the camera improperly, but I set the camera on a stationary surface and used the timer to take the picture. The picture was still not in focus. The date is forver resetting to 1994, and the last straw happened today when I opened the camera to remove the roll of film which I thought was finished, but it never advanced at all. When I opened the camera, the film was jammed in the take up spool and a square piece of plastic fell off of the back of the cover. After doing some research, I went out and bought an Olympus Stylist. I hope that Pentax will honor their product and refund my money. Heaven knows that the IQ Zoom is a worthless piece of junk.

It has a sharp lens and lots of advanced features ("B" shutter speed, slow-synch flash, etc.) for the entry-level price. I've always lugged around an SLR with extra lenses, but this summer I got one of these for my daughter before we went to Washington, DC. I ended up using the EZY-R more than my big Nikon -- and the photos I took (mostly daylight scenics and family snapshots) came out just as good as the Nikon's. It does have the same limitations as any [similar] camera, but I think it's a good product if you know those limitations.

I bought this camera for my daughter, but it has quickly become the family camera. It's lightweight, easy to tote around, easy to use. 400 speed film or greater is a must, as anything slower results in slightly blurry pictures. I like all the different features for adjusting the flash and red eye settings, and using the automatic timer. We have not had any mechanical or electronic problems, and batteries for this camera are not expensive.

I wish I had spent a little more.,

The only reason I am generous enough to give this camera a "3" is because it is my own fault for not spending more and getting a better camera to begin with. When my son was born 15 months ago, I wanted a simple camera that I didn't have to fool around with. My husband has a nice SLR, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a second camera. Now 15 months later, I wish I had. My basic complaints: focus not great; film advance is horrendous (I usually have to cut the film at different angles just to make the camera advance it); centering subjects is often a pain. Needless to say, I am going out this weekend and buying a new camera. I wish that I had listened to what my father always told me: "Buy the best you can in the beginning. You'll be thankful later."

I've had this camera for a few years. My parents bought it for me because I wanted a nice no nonsense camera. It takes great pictures, and I've never had a problem with the camera. I'm a little surprised about all the complaints because I don't have one. I always get compliments on my photos, which I love. The only reason I can see someone complaining is if they are more of a photographer and want more options. Otherwise, this camera is teriffic.

I've been taking pictures with a Canon Elan 7 and am convinced you cant find a better camera. The only problem with it is that its not the best camera to take with you everywhere, on week long backpacking trips, etc. Which is why point and shoots come in handy. The Pentax EZY-R was my choice 4 years ago, and until last week it was the toughest most remarkable little camera I'd ever seen. The image quality was among the highest P&S quality Ive ever seen. Over the 4 years I dropped it to the bottom of a lake, it fell out of a car, and survived taking pictures for 6 months in Tanzania, Africa. By the end the pictures taken in Africa were some of my best, even with the Elan 7 that I also had with me. If you're expecting a super zoom with all the fancy gadgets, put some money into it, and learn how to take a picture. For a 60 dollar camera you cant beat it. So when mine just broke, I found the exact same camera, (without date, because it is annoying when it resets the data on you) for 30 dollars. If it doesnt stand up to the first I'll let you know. Like anything else, you could get a fluke, but if you dont it could be the best valued camera you'll ever find.
