Ever since I found one of these pencils in a drafting class a long time ago, I have been addicted. I have a heavy hand and constantanly breaking points. Especially mechanical pencils. I used to go through lead like crazy. The .9 is the only one that I can't break easily. I have still a couple of times, but nothing like I used to. I try to use the .9 exclusivly. The only problem I have is that my kids keep taking them, or I lose them. I have to keep buying them all the time. That's not the manufacturer's problem, that's mine.

I am an accountant for an independent oil and gas E&P who used to constantly break mechanical pencil lead because of my constant hard writing. Because of this I learned to love the mix of wooden pencils and sharpeners. The pentel sharp series was brought to me by an engineer who said he had the same problem and I have used these ever since. These are the kind of things most of us would usually sit around and say "They don't make'em like this any more" about; but they do!

While in general I prefer .7 lead, I find that for some things a thicker lead like this can be useful. The thicker lead is good for woodworking projects and for other times you need to make a dark, thick line. In general it is too thick for my uses though. It is more difficult to write really small and still have the words legible with the thicker lead. Other than that, I like this pencil. It works just like the average refillable mechanical pencil

I have only ever seen two types of 0.9mm pencil in stores. This one and a cheap twist-erase mechanical pencil that is so badly made it's spring usually stops working the first day. The built-in eraser leaves much to be desired but anyone who uses this pencil will quickly forget it and buy a dedicated eraser - it's that good.

Originally I gave this pencil a good review. But I'm here to change that. From a 5 star to a 2. The reason for this is that with all things concidered, really this mechanical pencil is only good for a month, 2 at it's best. It seems like the lead over time lubricates the interior to the point where there is no friction, and instead of the lead being pumped out little by little it just drops out. I did enjoy it for the time that it worked though.

I stumbled onto this pencil years ago. I have them strategically located in all my bags, at all my desks etc. My son of 11 found one last year and since I cannot buy them fast enough. He loses them and then takes another one of mine. I love the pencil. The thicker lead makes it smooth to write with. I also collect pens and Medium is my favorite. I recommend this pencil hands down. I own.... well have owned about 20 of them. seems like I may need to buy some stock in Pentel. Happy Writing

I usually have a hard time using pencils for long periods of times due to my wrist, I find this pencil to be rather easy on it. The .9 lead also means i don't break it like I do with others because of my heavy hand writing.

My husband and I have been using these pencils for years. Have never had one break or give us problems. We buy more only because we lost the ones we had. Well made.
