Also it's worth mentioning that there are refills sold, so you can replace the eraser without having to buy a whole new plastic housing for it.
The only downside is taking one out of my pocket while studying (always have one on me!) and people laughing that I need to get out more.
However, spreadsheets have made way for computer programs (and I can't tell you how much time they have saved!), so are these still useful?
When I returned to seminary and was learning Greek and Hebrew I always used pencil, and I greatly appreciated these over the little erasers that came with the mechanical ones! In fact, they are handy for any project you do in pencil (including drawing). If you have never used them, they click out about 1/8 inch at a time, and these white erasers do not leave pink marks behind.
They are old fashioned In today's world of computers, but still very nice to have for students and offices.
I have not had any issues with the grips becoming loose. I also never had a clip break on me. And the eraser stays put at my chosen length. I have erased large portions of writing on a page without these issues. Keep in mind these are plastic. I suppose if one gets carried away it is possible to stretch the grip over time or snap off the clip.
FYI ABOUT PRODUCT COLOR
I wanted to give everyone a heads up about the color of this product. As of November 2012, the product description and accompanying Amazon image suggests the package includees one gray, one red and one blue barrel eraser. I ordered this item on 11/2/2012 and I received a package of three black barrels. These actually look pretty cool imo. I have uploaded a photo of them. But I just wanted to give a heads up about. Thanks.
Only problems I've had are
- as one reviewer pointed out, the rubber grip sometimes stretches and slips down making it hard to hold properly
- I almost always end up snapping the clip/slider... usually towards the end of the life of the eraser that's in the barrel... otherwise I could just keep buying refills and be set.. I almost feel like the cheap/easy to break clip was an intentional design flaw
It's still useful, but the broken clip then becomes 'removable' and eventually can get lost as has happened to me in the past
Nevertheless this is the only eraser I keep around with the tons of writing I do...
I used it to erase my child's 3 pages of fill in the blanks question - 30 words approximately.
I realized it was making too much mess and the eraser was breaking up into small pieces as well.
I have attached the picture of how much mess it created.
I'll be looking for another retractable erasers, this didn't work to my expectation.

Yes--it erases. But other than that, it is low quality and hard to use. Even if you only roll it out a little, the eraser is brittle and breaks easily. Read morePublished 2 hours ago by Naomi R.
love these click erasers, although my girl says that the eraser comes out easily - I showed her how to use it so that the eraser doesn't come outPublished 4 days ago by Review Queen
I was happy to find these as I had one "old" eraser left and like the convenience of the retractable feature which keeps the tips of the eraser clean.Published 5 days ago by YARIS

Coming from a mechanical engineering student, these are poor. Doesn't leave marks or anything but it's so soft that if you have it out one click past use length, it rips off. Read morePublished 12 days ago by Trevor Hansen
These erasers are cheaper than the refills for the same thing. I no longer buy refills but just whole new ones. I use these daily as an Engineer with my hand calculations. Read morePublished 12 days ago by Steve S
