This is one hell of a mechanical pencil. I would pay 10 times this much for it. I've tried other brands, but they just end up in the trash. This is only mechanical pencil you will ever need.

This has been my favorite pencil for years. It's durable and reliable. They used to come with a wire in the eraser to remove jammed leads, but I've never had a jammed lead with this pencil. The grip is a bit firm, but the cushier kinds are more bulky. The only problem is that I lose them or people "borrow" them, so I now buy them by the dozen!

I have been using these pencils for literally about 30+ years. For the first few decades quality was great.

Quality of (just the) pencil part is still great - as a "writing only" instrument. I love the feel of the pencil when writing, I love the quality of the writing. But, for the last several years, I have not been able to get the pencil's erasers to work reliably.

I use the Z2-1 eraser refills recommended by Pentel. Each eraser consists of a metal tube that clamps the rubber eraser, and that metal tube plugs into the plastic tube of the pencil, under the push-button cap of the pencil. The eraser assembly also acts as a stopper/plug to keep the lead refills in place.

The problem: the eraser assembly's metal tube is too narrow to say put in the pencil. Symptoms include:

1. When even the slightest erasing pressure is put on the eraser, the whole assembly sinks into the pencil tube (both the metal eraser clamp and the rubber eraser sink into the pencil). They go so deep that nothing protrudes and the entire eraser assembly has to be pried back out using straight pins and/or bent paper clips and/or tiny needle nose pliers.

2. A semi workaround for #1 is to bend/expand the metal tube to make it wide enough to fit tighter in the pencil's tube so that it won't "sink" when used. But, that releases the rubber eraser so just it sinks into the tube. That usually happens very quickly during erasing, leaving just the metal clip exposed, which scratches and rips up the document trying to be erased.

3. Another frustration is often when removing the push button cap to get to the eraser, to be able to erase... the entire eraser assembly lodges in the push button cap.

I've gotten pretty fed up with the el cheapo mechanical pencils, you know, the 5-pack cheap plastic kind that last for a couple of weeks of heavy use and break. So I picked up this pencil and have been pretty happy with it. It's well built and writes smoothly; the mechanical portions seem well built. The only complaint I have is that it's a little less comfortable than I would like--the grip area is a little harsh.

Overall, would recommend.

I have spent over 50 years at engineering drafting, design and detail checking of other's drawings. This pencil is the very best I have ever found over the years. I lost the last one, I still don't know how and I couldn't wait to get a replacement. No matter what kind of drawing, or writing you are doing, you will find this pencil easy to use. You can have the hardness and/or the color of lead you want and I have hardly ever found a pencil eraser that works as well as the ones on the Pentel pencils. All sizes are excellent and they are very reliable. And Amazon's delivery system get them to you very fast. Get some today.

I've used the Pentel P207 for years and found it very good for detailed and fine work. The Pentel "Super" HB 0.7 refill works well and lasts for quite a while.

This mechanical pencil comes with about eight pieces of 0.7mm lead, loaded and ready to start writing. It is weighty enough to feel comfortable.

I've been using these pencils for years. The one I'm using now has lasted 4 years of constant use, and my previous one lasted 3 years before being stolen. In total, I've been using these for about 8 years now, and don't plan on changing. In fact, I've used this one so much I've worn off some of the chrome plating on the tip where my finger sits, but it's gotten use nearly every day, for hours at a time, for years. If it ever jams, it's because of bad graphite, and it's easy to take apart and get the little broken graphite piece out. The mechanical component has never failed me through countless exams. This is a must if you don't like having to sharpen pencils all the time, and need a writing implement that works reliably.
