Works, but not my favorite,
By Walter Reade (Appleton, WI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pentel(R) Quicker-Clicker™ Automatic Pencil, 0.5 mm, Blue (Office Product)
Pros: (1) The pencil lead feed "quicker clicker" on the side of the pencil is convenient, (2) The clip is sturdy. (3) The eraser is thick and works well.Cons: (1) it feels too thick where the pencil is gripped near the tip, (2) the clear plastic piece around the pencil tip sometimes works its way loose, (3) the small plastic cap covering the eraser is sure to get lost, and (4) the rubber gripping piece is a bit to tacky, and the pencil can be difficult to slide into a suit or shirt pocket.

One of the best mechanical pencils ever designed.,

This review is from: Pentel(R) Quicker-Clicker™ Automatic Pencil, 0.5 mm, Blue (Office Product)
This is the ubiquitous mechanical pencil in the sciences and engineering (my field). It's pros are:1) the side lead advance 2) the tacky grip (yes, a tacky grip is MUCH preferable to me when I have to write for hours! It eases the strain on the fingers in gripping the pencil) 3) the readily available (and easily replaceable) eraser that works well 4) high lead capacity the cons: 1) the cap on the eraser is, like the previous reviewer noted, sure to get lost. But WTH, it's not needed anyway. All in all, an excellent design, as I'm sure most users of it will attest. Only once (in 15 pencils over 11 years) did I ever have the rubber grip react chemically with something, harden, peel away, and slip off (can't blame that on the pencil though!)

Ouch, be careful with this one...,
This review is from: Pentel(R) Quicker-Clicker™ Automatic Pencil, 0.5 mm, Blue (Office Product)
I used the Quicker Clicker line of mechanical pencils for years. They are built to last with high quality plastic and metal pieces.Unfortunately, I learned about their greatest drawback the hard way. The metal sleeve the lead advances out of does not retract. I always carry pencils in my pocket and I did not know the metal sleeve had poked through my jeans. When I quickly moved my arm across it, the metal sleeve caught my skin and I ended up with a 4 inch rip across my forearm. The scar is slowly healing but my distaste for this pencil never will. If you plan to leave this pencil in a jar next to your desk, it will serve you for years and you will be very happy with it. If you're like me and carry a writing utensil in your pocket, beware!!!
