Great for casual writing/erasing, but not perfect.,

Different pencils suit different needs. Some people want an attractive, flashy pencil to carry around in public. Some people want a comfortable, ergonomic pencil for taking extensive notes. Some people want a nice tight, reliable pencil for drafting and on the job. Some people just want a pencil for casual writing, filling out crosswords, etc.My main Pencil is a Pilot Dr. Grip. I just find it very comfortable and I like the weight and how it writes smoothly. My tight pencil is sometimes a Graph-Gear 1000 and sometimes a Pentel Sharp P207. My casual pencil, however, is the Twist-Erase III. The Twist-Erase III is just as good in its purpose as any of the other pencils I use. It writes and advances lead like a Pentel. No worries there. The ergonomics are good, not as good as the Dr. Grip or anything, but good. Clearly the best feature of the Twist-Erase III, however, is the long, endless, replaceable eraser. Let's face it: we all use pencil because we plan on eventually having to erase. With my Dr. Grip, the eraser is tiny, so I carry around a Pentel Hi-Polymer Block Eraser to school. This is fine when I make a mistake and need to erase a bunch of notes. In fact, when I'm writing extensive notes it would be unruly to try to erase using a pencil-end eraser. But if you're casually writing here and there, you're not going to want to carry around a bulky eraser. Moreover, if you're filling out crosswords or forms, a block eraser is too large to erase letters from individual blocks: if you put a block eraser on a newspaper it will mess up the ink, mess up the eraser, etc. With the Twist-Erase you can use the eraser right on the pencil. That really is the best feature of this pencil, and that alone makes it better than anything else on the market for casual writing. Unfortunately the eraser is also my only complaint with the pencil. The eraser just isn't that great quality. It's not as good as Pentel's Super Hi-Polymer block eraser. A PVC eraser would probably be better. Still, this is not so much a problem for casual-writing, and if you really want to do erasing jobs you wouldn't be using the eraser on the end of your pencil! Really, the size and position of an eraser have as much to do with the utility of a pencil as does the writing component. The Twist-Erase fills this much-needed nitch purpose. If you use pencils in this manner, then you need to check out the Twise-Erase and make your life easier.

After testing at least 15 other pencils, I chose this one. The things I like are the excellent mechanical construction, easy lead change, very effective retractable eraser, comfortable grip and excellent balance. The only small negative is the shirt clip is difficult to slide over a pocket. This thing is built like a tank, I love it.

Hands down the best pencil there is. I use it for lecture notes in school. Recommended for students, I never get a sore hand from writing with this pencil. The refillable eraser is a blessing!

I'd give this product 6 of 5 stars if I could!! This pencil has been a true friend for the last 8 years. I've been carrying the exact same pencil since my freshman year of college when I happened to purchase one at my school's bookstore. My hand never gets sore, the lead rarely breaks, its eraser is seemingly endless, and I carry it everywhere. My pencil has been lost, found, traveled the world (literally), and will always be my writing companion. The day it breaks and must be replaced will be sad. You're going to love it just as much as I do.

The Pentel Twist-Erase hits all the main points of a good pencil:1) Reliable lead feed 2) Decent lead capacity 3) Decent amount of eraser, easy to refill 4) Comfortable grip I haven't found anything on the market to compare, particularly with respect to the eraser size.

I have become really attached to this pencil. I use it for all my writing and general use, and Believe me, I do a lot. I'm an architectural college student. I have two .9 models and two .5 models. I had a .7, but someone else decided they wanted it, so I no longer have it. I love this pencil. I use it for hours at a time, every day of the week. It dosn't cramp my hand, it dosn't break lead, the eraser is a good one, it is large, and it is refillable. I have had these pencils through high school and now in college, and they show no signs of wear, except for one that ran into my dog. But it still works. I did take the clips off of them, I think they are ugly. Compared to other mechanical pencils, these are excellent. They are durable (many of the same price aren't), they look pretty good, they are refillable, and they are comfortable. I got a nice ever-sharp as an impulse purchase, and even though it looked pretty, I went back to the twist erase. It was just plain better. My sister has one now too, and it's all she uses. My Dad is the one who decided he wanted my .7, so apparently he likes it too, lol. Definitely a good product.

All 3 of my young adult children were so excited to receive these pencils in their Christmas stockings! They are hard to find in local stores and they will use them till they are completely worn out again!

If you need a pencil, you need this one,

I've had to use pencils at work for 35 years and this is the best I've ever found. A pencil just doesn't need to be better than the Twist-Erase III with 0.7 mm leads as far as I'm concerned. Performance, comfort, great eraser (most of them suck) and it's kind of cute in its chunky way. A pleasure to use.
