5.0 out of 5 stars Real Hip Hop, February 12, 2003

This album clearly demonstrates what HIP HOP is all about. No stolen beats, no wack lyrics about f**in Bentley's and Platinum. If you didn't like this album, sorry it couldn't have been more PUFFY. Give it a few listens and then rate it, I think this is as good as Hip Hop gets and ranks with all other BCC material.

3.0 out of 5 stars For True Fans, April 5, 2005

Members Cocoa Brovaz (Smif-N-Wessun), Heltah Skeltah, O.G.C., Representativz and others led by B.D.I. (Buckshot) to bring hip-hop back. A major element that's missing from this release is the production of the Beatminers. The slow grooving jam "Night Riders" crept unexpectedly to a favoriate tune. The solo song for Louieville Sluggah of O.G.C. titled "The Dugout" is laced with a xylophone and a one, two kick. As simple as it is Louieville made a base hit with this one. "Illa Noyz" performed by Illa Noyz and Heltah Skeltah, could have been better without that hook, but they did thier part in bringing this release a fresh voice. The production is filled with a more live feel that maybe stripped it of its potency, yet titles like "Rag Time" is a jazzy/soulful jam where we get to hear Buckshot flow.

4.0 out of 5 stars sample all this, August 26, 2004
This review is from: For the People (Audio CD)
Overall B.C.C. puts out a very good album. The 1st 2 songs are intro's, with the 3rd being the album breakthrough with a chillin song to start off with. The 4th ("Headz Are Reddee Pt.2") song is a good mixture of piano, inhalation of smoke, and bass with lryics straight from the heart of Brooklyn, callin out the East Coast underground to elevate. The tracks from 4 to 9 are overall good, but 10("Rugged Terrain") adds a reggae type of beat and vocals, as B.C.C. combines their lyrical flow into the reggae mix. Track 11 ("The Dugout") starts off with a very chillin metal drum beat, with a couple phone call messages for B.C.C.; the group opens up lyrically with talk of struggle in this world for other battlers, either on the mic, passing by, or for B.C.C. themselves. Track 12 ("Go For Yours") has a great beat for an upbeat stroll down Central Park, while thinking of writing poetry as B.C.C.-"mentally you can't function, physically you're dead with the push of this button, explosions keep eruptin'...." etc., etc.

Overall, O.G.C., Heltah Skeltah, Boot Camp Clik, and Smif-N-Wessun put together a very good underground hip-hop album. I recommend this album to any tru hip-hop listenas!!
