5.0 out of 5 stars I AM AMAZED!!!
I was a bit hesitant about ordering this CD...I am a big fan of Russell Watson in the classical genre that we associate with him...but after reading the reviews both here and at Amazon U.K....I decided to try it. I am truly amazed at how good he sounds!! He can absolutely sing anything! Every track is excellent. The House of the Rising Sun is the best! How a tenor could...

1.0 out of 5 stars songs not a good fit for watson.
I was hoping this cd is as excellent as his previous cds which are mostly in italian. H e does not sound good in english. His vocal range is not for this type of songs. Although, I like his previous cds, this one is a disappointment.

I am truly amazed at how good he sounds!! He can absolutely sing anything! Every track is excellent. The House of the Rising Sun is the best! How a tenor could get his voice to such a low, rich register is beyond me...but proves how very versatile he is. Don't hesitate to buy this...it doesn't disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars People Get Ready, January 30, 2009

I fell in love with the voice of Russell Watson when I first saw him on a morning tv program after his first CD was released. I have followed his career (via internet)since and have all his CD's, DVD's and his autobiography. This latest CD is fantastic! No matter what he sings, classics, soul, blues, pop........I'm never dissapointed. Even after two major operations for brain tumors, he's back and better then ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Consistently the best, January 9, 2009
This review is from: People Get Ready (Audio CD)
Every since I first heard Russell Watson I enjoyed his voice and was hooked. Once again he is consistently the best male vocalist ever. This man can sing anything. I especially love this album since it brings me back some years to some very special moments. If you could wear out a CD by playing it over and over again, I'm sure that this is one.

I also am a fan of Russell Watson, it's easy to see that these songs are among some of his favorites, he sings them beautifully and they could be released as hit singles today. I will enjoy listening to this cd many times throughout the years.

Russell Watson has demonstrated once again that he can sing ANYTHING!!! That voice transcends all genre. With this new disc he also proves he can assemble the BEST people to work with. From musicians to backup singers to the recording and mastering....this CD is is superb. Me and Mrs. Jones is the best version I have ever heard and you've just got to hear him do House of the Rising Sun. You WILL love People Get Ready.....buy it!

I was never a fan of Russell Watson but I was ordering this CD for my husbands birthday. He played it once on the car cd player and I could not believe what I was hearing. I was absolutely amazed at what I heard. One song after the other his singing showed a depth and maturity I had not heard beforel. You can just tell that he had to really work his talent to get these songs across the way he did. Am I a fan, now? Without a doubt, and I have put my favorites on my MP3 player along with my other favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Russell Watson - People Get Ready, March 16, 2010

This review is from: People Get Ready (Audio CD)
I have been a Russell Watson fan for years and have always been amazed by the not only the range of his voice but the different voices he seems to be able to use. I was interested to see if he could pull off this one as it is a complete change from anything he has done before. I should have known that he would do great. I have a small complaint with Papa Was A Rolling Stone. He only sings the first stanza over again instead of all of them. But, that is just about the only complaint I have. House of The Rising Sun is fantastic. How does he get his voice that low in the beginning? Me and Mrs. Jones is also terrifice. Once again he has shown that his nickname is appropriate. He is "The Voice".

4.0 out of 5 stars What's Missing?, January 31, 2010

I bought this for my wife who is a big fan of Watson's classical music with some reservations. We both felt that a pop album by Watson might be, well, too pop. After reading the Amazon reviews I purchased it. We both agree. Watson's voice is , of course, superb. But the pop standards that he has chosen to cover, while great songs, suffer from uninspired and lackluster arrangements compared to the originals. Why doesn't watson do an album of all Celtic songs?
