With influences as far reaching as 70s glam rock and 80s new wave to punk, garage and soul- Ben Grimes (guitar, lead vocals), Harry Anderson (bass), Ryan Shank (drums), and Kenn Jankowski (guitar, keyboard) have set out to awaken the spirit of American rock music.
They played their first show on a college campus in Joplin, MO to about 30 people, and thus The Golden Republic was born. With their unique songwriting and powerful live performances, they have steadily built a dedicated following throughout the Midwest. They have since completed extensive tours with Sondre Lerche, Idlewild and Nada Surf to a huge critical reaction and are set to hit the road again later in 2004 with label mate Sondre Lerche.

The People have spoken,

At last, the first release from Golden Republic has been released since their signing with Astralwerks. For those who haven't heard, the Golden Republic used to be called the People, which should be familiar to anyone who has frequented the music scene in Kansas City and the surrounding area over the past several years. If you haven't bought this EP yet, you are missing out on one of the best up-and-coming rock groups. Expect to hear a lot more from them in the coming years.

After watching this band earlier in the week, I immediately went out and bought their EP. It is one of the most amazing things i have ever heard. I thoroughly enjoyed their music. It's got everything that i've ever looked for in music. Once again, this band is amazing!

Derivative of so many genres they eventually end up signifying
nothing.Zero hooks in their tunes and live they were a bunch of rude prats when they opened for Sondre Lerche.
