5.0 out of 5 stars My first live worship experience, December 5, 1999

This review is from: People Just Like Us (Audio CD)
People Just Like Us has a very special place in my heart, as it was recorded just after we became a part of an outreach service of Hills CLC, and this was the first live recording I had ever attended. The music totally blew me away! From the joyful title track (which has led me to accidentally speed while listening to it in the car and the beat gets into my feet!) through to the beautiful In the Silence, Power and the Glory and Shout to the Lord, the album is a delight to the spirit and soul!

I remember that experience of being a part of the congregation, caught up in the excitement and joy of the night. But something I've discovered since is that this wonderful atmosphere of praise and worship is a part of every service - always a celebration of praise and worship. Some of the songs may seem a little dated now, such as Lord Make Me Your Servant, but songs like the ones I've mentioned above will go on forever. I honestly don't think I have ever heard "Shout to the Lord" ever performed as well as it was first performed on this album. Even today, 6 1/2 years later, the children that I have played this album for in my Religious Education class, still all fall in love with Shout to the Lord. As young as 10 years old, the Holy Spirit touches their hearts and brings tears to their eyes. I believe that if you have a worshippers heart, then People Just Like Us should be in your collection. I have never become tired of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A vibrant album of live worship from Hillsong Australia, October 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: People Just Like Us (Audio CD)
The last of the series completed while Geoff Bullock was Worship Pastor at Hills Christian Centre in Sydney Australia, it has his mark all over it. The songs range from the lively "People just like us", to the quiet "In the silence". It is one of the best from Hillsong and includes the track "Shout to the Lord" that has been re-recorded on several worship albums.

The CD has all the atmosphere you would expect from a live worship recording, coupled with some of Geoff Bullock's best work.

By comparison with the other Geoff Bullock lead albums "The Power of your Love" and "The Stones Been Rolled Away", this is the most powerful and musically the best.

It marks the end of the more contemplative series from Hillsong, but still leads naturally to the bright bubbly later albums more influenced by Darlene Zschech: "All Things are Possible", "God is on the House".

Of all the Hillsong albums, this is my favourite, and "In the Silence" is by far the best track.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, every Praise Leader should use some of the songs, June 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: People Just Like Us (Audio CD)
Our Praise and Worship Choir sing a lot of songs from Hillsongs and others. We find that when we do these songs we seemed to lift God up to others and we greatly feel His presence with us. We go into each song with a prayer before we perfom it. Any one who loves good christian music should buy their albums

4.0 out of 5 stars A blessing to me, October 4, 1999
This review is from: People Just Like Us (Audio CD)
Songs in this album are more of the slow types. Emphasis is placed more on worship songs. Sounds a bit "mechanical" too. But the words are hard to beat as usual. In all , not a bad one if your taste is more on worship music from Hillsongs.
