This review is from: People Like Us (This Place of Mine Trilogy) (Paperback)
After reading the This Place of Men Trilogy, I must say that People Like Us is the best of the three. This book truly places you in the shoes of the main character, Terrell, and allows you to experience the numerous issues and problems that essentially were caused by forcing him to lead a life that is not his own. The reader feels as if he is walking in search of acceptance along with Terrell. This book causes one to take an objective look at your actions in many settings - work, church, family, and the search for social acceptance. As a native of Cincinnati, I was able to picture the various locations mentioned. The Trilogy accurately depicts the intolerance/prejudices of the communities listed, but also offers hope that within this metropolitan area there are areas of acceptance and love for ALL citizens. Excellent work, and I sincerely hope Doug continues writing in the future!

Cooper-Spencer is a great storyteller! Well worth tracking his books down outside the traditional marketplace.
