Charlotte Prentiss never ceases to amaze me. The characters are very well built and as a former battered girlfriend the feelings are so unbeliveably real. I was able to place myself in the story and watch it unfold. Very beautifully written. The story had real enemies with real controversy. I also really enjoy how the arthur takes us from place to place and after telling us one story she continues with the same tribe generations later and how the original characters from the previous book has become immortalized is amazing work.
Other books by Prentiss: -Children of the Sun -Children of the Ice -The Ocean Tribe -The Island Tribe

A letdown, not like the first,
By Heather H. "Heather H." (New Jersey, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: People of the Mesa (Paperback)
After Children of the Ice, I hoped this would become a moving series of books on pre-historic America. It wasen't to be. Native American lesbians!!?? Sexual torture, wife-beating? Ms.Prentiss went from a very good story of Historical Fiction to some strange ideas about Native American life. A big letdown, none of the rest of her books are worth reading, they are all in the same vein as this one.

Charlotte Prentiss is a wonderful writer and her books are ones that are so hard to quit reading until you have finished the whole book.
