EDGAR WINTER-PEOPLE MUSIC: This is a real rarity in the world of Edgar Winter compilations...no FRANKENSTEIN or FREE RIDE to be found! Eschewing the most obvious efforts, budget collection PEOPLE MUSIC rounds up lesser known gems from this multi-talent's long career. ROUND AND ROUND is a pure country twanger, GIVE IT EVERYTHING YOU GOT smokes with funk-infested RNB greatness, and LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL is a rip-snortin' snootful of rockin' soul with blooze brother JOHNNY WINTER. The musical variety on display here (including jazz and disco) adds up to a first class listening party; PEOPLE MUSIC is an appropriate title for those able to think outside the Top 40 box.

This is a budget collection. It contains some of the songs from the now out of print 3rd and final Edgar Winter Group album which was originally released on the Blue Sky label in the mid 1970's. That album was not a hit and the group disbanded soon after its release. While this collection is nowhere near as good as the greatest hits collections, it is worthwhile for Edgar Winter Group fans that are looking for those hard to find songs like "People Music" and the price is cheap. Casual fans would be better off sticking to one of the greatest hits collections.
