3.0 out of 5 stars Reads Like a College Term Paper, December 21, 2009
What is Ancient Greek history without the Persian and Pelopennesian Wars? You cannot tell the story of Greece without Alexander and his conquest of the Persian Empire. At the very heart of the Greek story is warfare. So it is with sadness that I report "Ancient Greek War and Weapons" is such a dissapointment. The book does a decent job on touching on most of the main themes but at its core it reminds me of a college term paper. You can just tell the author quickly read a number of Greek history books and then put together in a slap dash manner this book. This work lacks depth and has a cut and paste feel about it. If you want to see a first class examples of children's books dealing with ancient warfare, check out any of Peter Connolly's books on the Roman Empire.
