Lightning does strike twice! Another pop gem.,

This review is from: People That Im Wrong for (Audio CD)
This excellent album deserves a very large audience. It is Warren Zanes' second cd, the first being 'Memory Girls'. If you haven't heard that album yet it is a pop masterpiece with every song immediate and memorable and I can't recommend it highly enough. It completely knocked me out. I have been a Zanes fan for a long time due to his involvement with his brother Dan Zanes in the brilliant Boston-based rock band The Del Fuegos. One of their main strengths and why they stood out from so many other bands was (unfortunately they disbanded) their magnificent songwriting. With 'People That I'm Wrong For' that amazing songwriting continues. This time around his vocals have more confidence, the arrangements are more powerful, with the guitar being more prominent than on his first outing. Zanes has managed to do something a lot of his contemporaries fail to do and that is have a recognisable sound. This is a very warm record and one that should be in every music-lovers library.
Standouts? Every song. Ok ... if I have to pick I'd say listen to Fool The Moon, People That I'm Wrong For, Ella's Arms - this is way too hard. Every song is great. Whereas this album gets a 5 star rating, 'Memory Girls' deserves a 10 out of 5 star rating so my heartfelt advice is: BUY THEM BOTH!!!!!!!!

Another great work by Warren Zanes,

This is a natural follow on to Warren's earlier solo album. He draws on the experiences of every day life and a creative blend of instrumentation to weave a musical tapestry that maintains a spare, open feel. This isn't the music you'll want to put on for a dance party (except at the end of the night when the lights are low and the dark corners come alive). There's a timelessness to this music, with a contemporary sensibiilty that makes it work for my wife and me as well as our high school and college age kids. At the beach, taking a long drive, hanging with friends, or reading a book on a rainy day, this is a great soundtrack to life.

This CD is like a long lost album from the Band! Warren is the second coming of Robbie Robertson, only better. Don't miss it!
