5.0 out of 5 stars This Book was on fire! Ms. Williams is the Bomb Author!, March 2, 2009
By
This review is from: The People vs Cashmere (Paperback)
Ok If you Read her first Book (Harlem on Lock) you know that Ms. Williams is a very talented Author. But in this novel she makes her name known. And loud as a mutha at that. To all my fellow readers it was like reading "Whore" and "Bitch" at the same time. Some stuff i had to read twice just to make sure i was reading what i was reading. This book was like that. i finished it within two days. Woulda did it in one day but, people just wouldn't leave me alone. anyways. The main Character Cash(Cashmere) was so real and sharp with the tongue that i was laughing out loud. And this wasn't just no hood book without a point not like alot of books that come out. I carried some info away from this book. I learned some things. I laughed, i almost cried(and i don't cry). Cashmere went through some stuff and just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, more stuff hits the fan. If i could give this book ten stars i would because it was just that good. This is one for my book shelves and i ain't passing it around so get your own.lol. If you in b-more, jersey or virginia, hit up Your Friendly local Urban Knowledge Bookstore and cop you a copy. Peace

5.0 out of 5 stars Karen Williams Is On A Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, April 20, 2009
This review is from: The People vs Cashmere (Paperback)
Ms. Karen Williams has done it again. I read Harlme On Lock so I had to read this book and I was on the edge of my seat the whole book. Parts of the book was crazy some parts had me laughing and other parts sad.

This book is about Cashmere and her family her mom, dad and sister Desiree.

Well after a freak accident with her dad Cashmere whole life turned upside down. From her sister sleeping with god only knew to her mom not caring about her dad enough to take care of him. Cashemere had to do it all take care of her dad, clean, cook and go to school. Until one day the mom just up and left living them to live with there aunt who wasn't all that good to either one of them. They had to sell crack and strip to pay the aunt and to pay for they dad to stay in the home he was in.

Cashmere started to see more of her sister Desiree her sister wasn't no good sleeping with her boyfriend to getting her to be a ho.

That's where they pimp Black came in. He put Cashemere over Desiree he had feelings for her as he say he did.

Cashmere and her sister Desiree end up having a falling out fight at there dads nursing home because Desiree wanted to pull the plug on there daddy. That lead Cashmere to accidently kill her sister.

So she ends up in jail not caring about anything at the beinning but, it all changed when she meet Ms. Hope. She was one of the women that worked on the jail floor. She had a lot of kind words to say that lead Cashmere to think twice about her life.

Don't want to say way to much I think I said, to much now lol. But, overally book was great. Karen Williams has done it again. I will have to say she is one of my favorite authors. I will totally have to look for more of her books in the future. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Doing it how it should be done, April 23, 2009
This review is from: The People vs Cashmere (Paperback)
Well I was skeptical about buying this book because it got mixed reviews. Must say that...this book was 5 stars!! Yes the name on the back is different than the characters name and that was stupid. From what I hear the author has little say about the cover the publishing company does. The story was still off the chain. Harlem on Lock was a good book to me in my opinion this book tops Harlem On Lock. Karen has really has outdone herself and has improved as writer.

Cashmere is a daddy's girl in every since of the word. She loves her mother, Pearla and her sister Desiree but no one compares to her daddy. All is well, Daddy is hard at work driving trucks. Mama is at home...when daddy is around. Desiree, she is a mean hoe but that is her life. When an unfortunate accident turns her world upside down, Cashmere finds herself living with her mean aunt, horny uncle, and Desiree. Desiree who has always been jealous of Cashmere takes Cashmere from bad to hell. When Cashmere winds up in jail who will help? Who is the people who is going against Cashmere? You will be surprised who come against her. Her biggest challenger is herself
