3.0 out of 5 stars Good starter book
This book will be very useful to readers who are new to peoplesoft and are non-technical. Although in some cases steps are missing or assumed, one can easily understand the missing steps. I enjoyed reading the book and recommend it as a good starter book on Peoplesoft.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent exercise guide, January 11, 2000

This review is from: PeopleSoft Step By Step (Paperback)
This is an excellent exercise guide for those who prefer to study at their own pace. It is a great alternative to the PeopleSoft courses themselves that are often lengthy and expensive. PeopleSoft Step By Step will guide you through planned exercises that will quickly familiarize the student with the Application. You will learn by doing the exercises. This book is a good choice for those who do not have the time to attend a class and is also an excellent reference book for the technical user. The steps are clearly explained in this clear and concise guide which will allow even a beginner to use and understand the PeopleSoft Application. I would recommend this book to someone who is not yet familiar with the PeopleSoft Application because it is a great learning tool.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great Book for a beginner !!, April 24, 2001

This book is meant for those beginners who have access to PeopleSoft and are interested in getting their feet wet in PeopleSoft in a matter of days. This book cuts to the chase (pardon the cliche) and tells you what option to click on when the App Designer menu opens, what icons to use and how to get started right away ! I completed the book in about a week's time by spending an hour on it everyday. I can now 'talk' PeopleSoft. But it does not cover PeopleCode (it states clearly that it does not, in the introduction) and yes, it is Version 7.5. There are some typos but any attentive reader can handle those. Read this book and then go on to any advanced PeopleSoft Developer's book. That experience will be much better. I tried to read an advanced book first, did'nt work. Read this one first.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Easy Step by Step, September 24, 2000
This review is from: PeopleSoft Step By Step (Paperback)
Being familiar with the Microsoft Step by Step series of books I selected this study guide on PeopleSoft and I was not disappointed. It's easy to follow with clear instructions and screen shots. The text doesn't bog you down with paragraph after paragraph of background descriptions and other information you don't need or care about. It gets right to the meat of the instruction. It has easy to follow exercises as well. The information in Part 2 covering the Application Designer was an added bonus. Part 3 covering access privileges, and importing data from outside sources was also extremely helpful. The only drawback was the requirement of having the HRMS database single-user version installed on my PC. Perhaps that should have been made clear in the book description. But the book suited my purposes and I highly recommend it as an excellent resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars peoplesoft step by step, December 29, 1999

This book is an excellent material to have as the necessary tools for those who want to learn peoplesoft without any knowledge or background on peoplesoft before. I am so surprised and interested for its simple and easy steps to follow. The instructions and graphic pages walk you through from the very beginning to the end so clearly that is hard for any confusion. Besides, time frame spends in learning not too bad at all ( Like those are in 24 hours learning stuff ). I hope the author will write more books for advanced issues in such a manner.

5.0 out of 5 stars PeopleSoft Step by Step, January 7, 2000
This review is from: PeopleSoft Step By Step (Paperback)
Excellent book with real life exercises, topics. A pragmatic approach for someone who is short on time but want to dive in into PeopleSoft water and keep his or her head well above it. The whole book can be considered as an excellent tutorial and also a good source of reference for topics ranging from PeopleSoft Designer, to PeopleSoft Code, to SQR ... . A must-have book for everybody dealing with PeopleSoft .

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy reading!!!, August 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: PeopleSoft Step By Step (Paperback)
This book is very easy to follow with each step illustrated after each step. It helped a great deal in reassuring me that each step was done correctly. The language was easy to understand and follow, this is great for a novice who want to get their feet wet, but must be familiar with RDBM and SQL. I learned to create reports with query and crystal reports, enhanced the application in the application designer and create panels for data entry and so much more. This book is worth the investment.

2.0 out of 5 stars Step by Step?, June 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: PeopleSoft Step By Step (Paperback)
This is only a step by step process if you have access to the single-user version 7.5 on your PC already or have access to a training area. This would have been helpful if this was in the description. I would not have bought this to learn PeopleSoft had I known that.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book falls short., February 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: PeopleSoft Step By Step (Paperback)
While I found some of the information quite helpful, I was also disappointed that the text is full of errors. Most of the errors were typographical, but there were also some topics that did not list complete steps to follow. As a technical trainer, I have great experience with step by step books and unfortunately this one falls short.
