I LOVE the New Living Translation, its my favorite translation, its so clear and speaks directly to my heart. In our church they read out of the King James Version and I wanted to be able to carry the Bible that I read in my own personal devotions to church too so this parallel edition is perfect. The parallel features the King James Version on one side of the page and the New Living Translation on the other side. I can follow right along in church with the King James Version and read the same passage in the New Living Translation on the other side of the page, which is easier for me to understand. The pages are a nice, thick page, easier to flip through than some of the thin pages that you find in a leather bound, gold edged type Bible. The hardback edition is easier to take care of and easier for me to read in bed. The font is a nice size, it big enough to see easily but is not a large-print. I love my new Bible and I would definitely purchase again.

A wonderful tool for bible study,
This review is from: People's Parallel Edition KJV/NLT (Hardcover)
Two of my favorite bible versions in one book. The tried and true King James and easy to understand New Living Translation. It is awesome to read the Word in old text and then in everyday language. The Tyndale Bible Verse Finder, Index to Bible Promises and 365-Day reading plan are nice extras in the front of the bible. Good Job!

KJV NLT Review,
By
This review is from: People's Parallel Edition KJV/NLT (Hardcover)
Great bible resource. The NLT is a great "study" accompaniment to the KJV. But be alert to all that the NLT left out of its interpretation. To copyright a book that is supposed to be the same a good bit has to be changed to achieve that copyright. Remember in the Garden of Eden the serpent took what God said(the Word of God) and twisted it just a little to fool Eve. Beware of supposed translations doing the same. But NLT can help in explaining difficult KJV but some of NLT's translation takes the correct interpretation out and gives more of commentary that sometimes doesn't fit.[...]

I love this Bible because it has the 2 versions side by side. I have always prefered the KJ until I got this Bible and the NLT is such easy reading and sheds light on the KJ. I love reading a passage in both.

Great parallel Bible,

It's not that I like the way the KJV is translated (Elizabethen)...it's that I prefer the texts from which the KJV is translated from. There are 60,000 texts that confirm the KJV translation and only 12 texts that confirm the NLT translation. It's really important to research this so you are aware of the differences in the original texts discovered around the world.I love the NLT and I use other translations as well, but I always compare it to the KJV. Comprehension is important so if I'm going to share the Word, I use other translations for ease of understanding but I do make sure that the verses first line up with the KJV. I usually resort to the KJV if scripture doesn't line up. I say "usually" because God has put it on my heart to study Jewish roots. I am learning how the Old and New Testaments work together, not against each other. There are no contradictions and the God of the Old Testament IS the same God of the New Testament. And there is still a second coming of Jesus Christ. There are many Old Testament scriptures about this second coming so obviously the Old Testament is still very important to us today. Ok, so the point is, I want to encourage you to purchase the "Complete Jewish Bible." It is the entire Holy Bible (Old and New Testaments) but it is translated by a Jewish man who believes Jesus is the Messiah. There are many Jews today that believe Jesus is the Messiah and they know so much about the Old Testament that we Gentiles can learn a great deal from our Jewish brothers and sisters. Once we study Jewish roots the Bible takes on a whole new depth and understanding so there are times when I go with the CJB over the KJV because I clearly understand what the original texts are relaying to us from a Jewish perspective. Remember, Jesus was, is, and always will be Jewish. The Bible was written by Jews. And one word in English means like five words in Hebrew. So although our English version is good enough to save, it truly doesn't do the original text justice. The translators have to pick one word out of five. Can you imagine our Bible being 5x the size it is now? LOL Whatever you choose to purchase, please make sure you have a King James Version or at the very least the New King James Version. The Bible is the most important book you will ever read in your life. The minute you think you are learning deep truths, you will realize that you are only scratching the surface. The Word is so simple and yet it is so complex. You can study it forever and still never know it all. You'll never get tired of reading it. It's the most amazing journey. Seek God and His standards, His will, His righteousness - and nothing for yourself (job, marriage partner, child, etc...) because you must establish a relationship with Him first. God does speak to people, that's what a relationship is...a two-way relationship. You will start off knowing He's there when you pray but you may not hear back from Him - but don't give up. Keep seeking Him until you actually find Him and hear from Him. When you pray and ask Him questions, He will answer you. It will be the most powerful experience of your life. But you must truly repent of your sins and turn away from them forever and confess your sins and follow Jesus Christ. Really follow Him! Turn to God. He is EVERYTHING :)

Be sure to check if it includes the 2007 revisions of the New Living Translation,
This review is from: People's Parallel Edition KJV/NLT (Hardcover)
I know the New Living Translation was revised in both 2004 and 2007. I looked at the tyndale.com website sample pages and the New Living Translation shows only copyrights from 1996 and 2004. The parallel bible is copyright 2005. So it looks like this book's New Living Translation only includes the revisions from 2004. A better buy could be the NLT Study Bible from 2008.I wrote tyndale.com and they assured me the new copies do have the 2007 NLT. I might buy a copy to examine for myself. Probably have to be wary of used copies from 2006 which for sure won't have the 2007 NLT. The trend in the NLT revisions seem to be that they are trying to be more literal but it is still a dynamic equivalence translation like the NIV 2011. Example in genesis 1:14 2004 nlt : Then God said, "Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them mark off the seasons, days, and years. 2007 nlt : Then God said, "Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. The 2007 nlt revision is closer to that of the KJV. I used the question feature at christianbook.com and they told me the NLT is the old one from 2004 and not 2007. It seems that there's lots of old stock that has the old 2004 NLT. The Bound For Glory Paralel Bible kjv/nlt (nlt kjv) from 2011 for sure includes the nlt from 2007. The nlt from 2007 is sometimes called nlt2.

I love this bible!! My husband and I have started the 365 day reading plan in the front. We are learning so much, especially since we are able to read it in terms we are accustomed too versus old language that didn't make sense to us. But we love how it is side by side so we can reference back to the king james version if we prefer. It's just so awesome!!! We would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone who would like to learn and understand the word of God!! :) Only downfall (which isn't too big of a problem for us but could be for others) is the font size. It is the typical bible size, but it could stand to be a little larger for those who need it. Other than that, it is AMAZING!!!! :)

I love this Bible. It gives you the best of both worlds. KJV is a word-for-word translation. NLT is a thought-by-though paraphrase in clear, modern English. I have read though the Bible many times for many years. I often read through the New Testament 2 to 3 times a year as a Pastor. Sometimes I use the KJV, sometimes the ESV, sometimes the NASB 95. The New Living Translation is the clearest and easiest to understand - though I don't care for it's predecessor the Living Bible. The NLT makes the Old Testament pop right off the page it is so clear to understand. Very easy to read and follow along with what the passage is saying. Would highly recommend as a daily devotional Bible. The One Year version of the NLT is good also. I read it daily.

This is a good source to study and learn the word of GOD. Its translated into simply english to better understand and will help those who are new to the body of JESUS CHRIST or those who are established Christians but still look to the word for guidance. This new translation helps to understand exactly those things that GOD wants us to know about HIM, JESUS CHRIST and the HOLY SPIRIT. I encourage anyone who is starting their walk with JESUS CHRIST to buy this Bible OR to this would be a nice gift to give to someone who is walking with JESUS CHRIST or who has accepted HIM as their LORD.
