5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ever!!!
The best of both worlds. The beauty of the Authorised Version with the accuracy and easy-comprehension of the NLT. The presentation is also nice; a royal purple cover with high-quality tan endpapers. Words of Christ are in red. A wonderful bible for educated persons who love the literary quality of the AV, but worry about inaccuracies or changes in language.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not order
I didn't received the Bible that I ordered. The wrong Bible was sent so I returned it for credit. I have ordered this Bible in the past Bible before and I love it, but mine is falling apart so I needed a new one.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best Bible I've ever owned!, April 10, 1999
By A Customer
I like having the KJV and the NLT side-by-side! I get the understanding of Modern Day English along with the time tested Authorized Version and it really brings out LIGHT on many issues. I recommend this Bible to everyone who desires to do serious Bible study.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1611 vs 1971, February 21, 2002

The comaprison of the two texts on the page is wonderful. I believe the King James Version is the best for intensive bible study and The Living Bible is more readable and up-to-date in the language of our day.Check out the Love chapter I Corinthians 13:4-6 Living Bible "Love is vry patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices when truth wins out." I usually notice when others do me wrong....how about you?

5.0 out of 5 stars New Living Translation - A Missionary's view, May 20, 2001
By
JAMES ANDREW YODER (KOKOMO, MS United States) - See all my reviews
Having lived overseas as a missionary for a good part of the past 20 years and having realized that God speaks in other languages besides English, it is a real treat to find an English version of the Bible that is written in the language that we use every day. The only cautions I have are: 1]- This Bible speaks real plain. It will probably touch some ares of your life that you have kept your conscience quiet on. You may need to make some changes! So if you are comfortable with your knowledge of God and your relationship with Him ... and don't want to be disturbed - this is not for you. 2]- Keep your King James Bible to compare.

God Bless, James Yoder

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Version; The Truth of God's Will, October 19, 2000
Unfortunately the ever present paranoia of authenticity within the different translations of the Holy Scriptures will not only prove erroneous, but self depriving of the fullness of God's grace. Seeking the most genuine and authentic translation of the Scriptures is an impossible task and certainly not what Holy Scriptures wants us to do regardless of translation. God's promise of the Holy Spirit to those who receive Jesus; leading us to ALL TRUTH is the ultimate protection against the error of human translation or interpretation. Christians not having faith in this infallible plan leave themselves at the mercy of such paranoia, and worse yet indirectly not trusting in God's sovereign power to lead us to the Truth if we are sincerely seeking it (Him). We must remember that it is God's will and power that is sovereign to "reveal" the truth, and not mere print in a book. The "paraphrasing" of Scriptures in the NLT is necessary for the times, and in no way radically alters the important doctrine set forth by previous translations, which we so dearly embrace as true Christians. The bottom line is that the NLT is an execellent source to develop one's relationship and understanding of their Creator, thus may we all continue to glory on with joy, love, peace and fulfillment in the name of Jesus Christ; Lord & Savior of all who believe.

"Not by might nor by power, but by my SPIRIT, says the LORD ALMIGHTY." Zechariah 4:6

Awesome Bible. The best of both worlds with traditional KJV and modern NLT, which makes the Word literally come alive! The only thing missing is red letters. Even without them, it is the best Bible I have ever owned, by a long shot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Parallel Edition Bible, August 24, 2006
This is a very good way to have comparisons at hand, especially when doing a bible study or group discussion. My only suggestion would be to have the print a little larger. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two in One, January 4, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This bible has both the King James Version and the New Living Translation side by side on each page. I wanted a modern sounding Bible, but I grew up with the King James Version, so this is absolutely the Bible for me! It allows you to go back and forth and get clarification from old English words. You grammar and language nerds will love it!

Nice Bible. I really like the red lettering. Bible was in good shape, I just wish I had ordered the larger lettering. Otherwise, I'm satisified...

Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bible, nice font and paper quality, nice binding., September 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great Bible. Mine has a soft cover, being not the fully supple leather Bible covers,
but still very handy usable and tactile imitation leather. Still quite supple (i like supple) even
though, again, mine wasn't real leather. And this was accurate to description by seller and here
on Amazon.

I usually prefer, by the way, large print, or even giant print, and yet love reading this
PTL People's Parallel Bible even with its normal (to me it's small) font size.
I can't judge font size in objective terms, just that this is what i would consider small font.

HOWEVER, IT'S AMAZINGLY READABLE, the font being very crisp and the paper quality
nice so that there is no bleed through.

I read it under street light waiting for the bus with my normal over the counter reading glasses.

I was impressed. I love the King James Version and wanted to see how this NLT translation (evolved
out of their previous Living Bible paraphrase) read side by side with it. Enjoyable so far. At this
point I find it appearing to be much more conforming to both the KJV, and the Hebrew, to the degree
that I read Biblical Hebrew (somewhere between beginner and intermediate level) than the
Living Bible which, for me, could be just too "off", although still valuable as a paraphrase.

So, I was happy!

Thanks to the terrifyingly huge giant, but seemingly benevolent, at least for me, giant of Amazon,
for interfacing with these smaller sellers. I hope it's working out for all of you. In other words,
Amazon has been a great benefit to me, but I also hope this interfacing with private sellers and
smaller retailers has been mutually beneficial for both Amazon and the many small retailers.

I worry about small booksellers that have been destroyed by the growth huge chain and huge internet retailers , so
it's nice to see a working relationship here. Since this is a Bible review, let's all pray for the remaining
small booksellers and God's blessing upon them. And that Amazon might thrive without others dwindling.

oh, last point, for those that like such, mine has the "Words of Christ in Red" dynamic.

Oh, last point: While this is not that unusual to encounter, it's noteworthy that a doctrinal leaning or
focus hits one right in the face in the opening pages as in the very front of the book, and impossible to miss,
with very large bold type and capital letters is a "TYNDALE BIBLE VERSE FINDER" that begins off with the word,
again in bold capitals, ABORTION, and lists related verses, etc. Of course, all Bibles contain some interpretive
or doctrinal leanings, so it is not surprising, just noticeable.

At least I'm happy it has the next entry as ABUSE and lists verses affirming that God
cares for minorities, God protects those who are helpless, Jesus was abused, Abuse has no place in
family relationships.

however, since it offers the word ABORTION as a major topic, it is noteworthy that
it does not offer the word POOR, as in the caring for the POOR, nor WIDOW, nor ORPHAN,
nor PRIDE, nor PROUD, nor OPPRESSED. I mean it's all there in the bible and in other headings in this
verse-finder, even as the second entry, ABUSE, covers such topics (and I applaud it for such).

Just simply that there is a doctrinal presentation up front, that at least appears (i could be easily
making too much of this, of course) to be stressing a current political focus as it is taking a word
that does not, itself, appear in the Bible, and putting it as a major topic, while not putting the
highly used words, poor, widow, orphan, pride, proud, oppressed, oppressor, etc. as topics.

Perhaps, again though, there was a balancing thoughtfulness in choosing the word ABUSE as the second
topic word, and again under which verses are listed linking and bonding Jesus to the poor, the abused,
minorities and even abuse in family relations.

ALL IN ALL, I LOVE THIS BIBLE, AND AM BLESSED TO HAVE FOUND IT!!!

And since this is a review of this specific PTL People's Parallel edition in imitation leather, I feel
the QUALITY IS EXCELLENT, AND IS A VOLUME WELL WORTH ACQUIRING.

I must admit, that I love the Word.
