This book was terrific. It is structured with commentaries from various "modern commentators" of the prayer book as structured in most Orthodox and Conservative communities. The commentaries are very factual and span differing customs and observances. I highly recommend this book to anyone working on their understanding of the Jewish prayers and prayer service.

I really enjoyed this book, it is easy to read, and describes the development of the Jewish services in a clear way. I liked how this book looks at the development of services over time and how the prayers that would be included are discussed. I thought the diagrams were helpful and shed light on the prayers included in services. I thought the commentaries added so much to the choice of prayers that are currently used. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about prayers, the prayer services, and why we choose the prayers that we choose in modern times.
