This book is good -- for a beginning developer,
By A Customer
This review is from: Peoplesoft Application Development Tools (Erp Series) (Paperback)
If you are a beginner who has taken Tools I and II and PeopleCode but have no actual experience, this book will reinforce what you learned in class and keep your skills fresh for when you start development. The authors give you EVERYTHING you need to be a productive developer. Those with much PeopleSoft Development experience won't find it too helpful though.

Great Start but confusing toward the end,

I used this book to re-enforce my understanding of PeopleSoft and how it is structured but I was only able to gain a very basic understanding of how to use the PeopleSoft development tool. Also, I had to pay very close attention to the text written in the book and the illustrations provided. It is very easy to get lost and confused.

One person on my project team bought this book and it has grown to become the go to source. I wound up buying two more copies for the rest of the team to use.

An excellent reference for developers,

"PeopleSoft Applications Development Tools" delivers all that it promises. From describing menu navigation and the use of each icon found on PeopleSoft's user interface to building a custom application using PeopleTools and PeopleCode. This book does not stop at merely providing detailed instruction for creating PeopleSoft objects (fields, records, panels, etc,) but explains why each object exists and how best to use it. I love the way the authors organized their materials. While reading most technical books, if a question is raised in my mind I have to dig to find the answer. Not so in "PeopleSoft Application Development Tools". Time and time again, my questions would be answered almost as quickly as they would pop into my mind. According to their introduction, Stephen Raff and Jami Clotts have trained hundreds of IS professionals. I believe this number will increase a hundred fold through the use of this book The case study approach gives any technical developer with access to PeopleSoft the ability to put into practice the material that was covered in previous chapters. I have already, and will continue to, highly recommend this book to my fellow PeopleSoft developers!

Out of Date,
This review is from: PeopleSoft Application Development Tools (Erp Series) (Kindle Edition)
Although now available for the Kindle, this book is more than NINE YEARS OLD. That is an eternity in the world of PeopleSoft. So much has changed now that this book will confuse as much as it conveys. Let's get more up to date volumes for Kindle instead of just converting the old ones.

Too basic,
By Kevin Weaver (Kansas City, MO) - See all my reviews

This book assumes that you know nothing about PeopleSoft and is not a good reference for any programmer. I have been developing in PeopleSoft for 2 1/2 years now, and I have never found a bit of information from this book useful. Save your money, and buy the SQR in PeopleSoft and other applications.
