Another Slice of Heaven,
This review is from: Pepperoni Pizza Can Be Murder (Pizza Lover's Mysteries) (Hardcover)
I have to say I really enjoyed
this second installment of the Pizza Lover's mystery. Of course the cover of the book had me yearning for just one slice of a gooey cheesy pizza. I relished the idea of coming back to see how sisters Eleanor and Maddy were getting along. This mystery takes place in a very small town in North Carolina. Where everyone knows your name and your business. This time the crime is committed right inside Eleanor's pizza making kitchen. How dare someone use one of her tools of the trade to murder someone. So, of course Eleanor has a stake in this crime. The fun comes while tagging along on all the escapades the sisters do to find the guilty party. Again, I savored every moment while reading this mystery. Thanks for the pizza recipes included.

Hold the anchovies,

Not a bad mystery series. I like this one better than the first one. But, did I miss something? How was the body discovered at the pizzeria? Eleanor gets a call in the middle of the night from the police saying a murdered body has been found at her restaurant. How did they know this? An anonymous tip? Police patrol found the body? I kept thinking this point would come up during the course of the book thereby giving a clue about the murderer but I don't recall anything ever being mentioned about it. And the main character (who owns the place) never asks? The first book in this series also bothered me in that Eleanor is so easily suspected of murder even though it's a small town and everyone has known everyone forever. Otherwise, they are readable books and I'll continue the series.

Good read. I find the main character getting a little nasty? She is definitely dwelling on her past a bit much. Different strokes for different folks but am a little put off by her negative attitude. It is a good read however, and worth reading.

Eleanor can't seem to catch a break. While no one is trying to pin a murder on her - the body was found in her pizza joint.
Unfortunately, the body is the brother of Greg, who works in Eleanor's shop. Greg and Wade have been fighting over their inheritance from their grandparents. Greg, while a good guy, is the black sheep of the family. He comes into the shop one day after a meeting with his brother about signing the papers with a broken nose. He finally stood up to his brother's bullying and punched him. The next day, his brother is dead and Greg's on the run. Eleanor knows he would never kill his brother. She just wants him to be safe. She sees him here and there, but each time the police are only minutes behind him. Eleanor and her sister decide to dig into the murder as the police focus all their energy on Greg. Can they stir up a hornet's nest without provoking an attack and landing themselves in grave danger? I love this series (this is the 2nd) for the sister relationship, the pizza (I adore pizza), and the loyalty of their friends.

I really like this series. I do wonder what prompted the police to find Wade's body in the pizzaria in the middle of the night. The other thing that bothers me is just because I notice things like this ... why was Eleanor's sister "Maddy" in book 1 & 3, and she is "Maddie" in book 2? I find typos and mispelled words all the time in the books I read, and it really sort of makes me angry that I paid good money for it and I am finding errors! Shouldn't these errors be found in the editing or proofreading process? I would like to know more about the publishing business and how so many books get published with the kinds of errors I find. If I find them certainly someone trained and paid to find them should. The last point I want to make, is that the cover artist clearly did not read the book, because the pepperoni pizza in question was not only NOT made at A Slice of Delight, but the point was made that nothing there was out of place when the body was found. Love the series, and the author.

Another fun loving Pizza Lovers Mystery. A body is found on the floor of the pizzaria after hours - Wade Hatcher, the brother of the deliveryboy. Wade and his brother Greg have been having a legal problem with the receipt of their inheritance. Of course, Maddy and Eleanor are out looking for the murderer.

saucy cozy,
This review is from: Pepperoni Pizza Can Be Murder (Pizza Lover's Mysteries) (Hardcover)
In Timber Ridge, North Carolina is home to the delicious A Slice of Delight pizza parlor owned by young widow Eleanor Swift. Although Eleanor misses her late husband and firmly believes there will never be another man for her, she loves her restaurant and those people who work there, her sister Maddy and students Gregg Hatcher and the son of the police chief Josh Hurley.
Gregg is the only one having problems at the moment. His grandparents left their entire estate to him and his older brother Wade; the siblings never got on as the older one was spoiled rotten by their parents while the younger was an ignored accidental afterthought. Wade demands Gregg sign over a part of his portion of the inheritance, but he refuses. They argue and fight in public. Soon afterward, Eleanor finds Wade's body in the kitchen of the pizza parlor. Police Chief Kevin Hurley wants to talk with Gregg, but he goes underground hiding while trying to figure out who killed his brother. He pleads his innocence with his employer although the circumstantial evidence is overwhelming including his former girlfriend Kay coming between the battling brothers. Eleanor investigates and finds several other suspects with strong motives including Katy and an expert at flinging the dough and perhaps into A Slice of Murder. Pepperoni Pizza Can be Murder is a saucy cozy in which A Slice of Delight comes across as another key character. The charming story line contains a fun whodunit thanks to the cast as a grateful Eleanor is protective of her crew. Although her inquiry is typical of the sub-genre in which the amateur sleuth follows clues like following a recipe (aside one is included), which enables her to uncover the killer while the expected cop with modern day support fails, fans will enjoy a slice with a topping of homicide. Pepperoni Pizza Can Be Murder,
This review is from: Pepperoni Pizza Can Be Murder (Pizza Lover's Mysteries) (Hardcover)
The second book in a cozy mystery series set in a pizza parlor. In this book, one of Eleanor's employees, Greg, is accused of murdering his nasty, older brother Wade. Eleanor and her sister Maddy decide to begin their own investigation to clear Greg's names. This book was a good mystery with good twists and turns. I hope that this series continues.
