This is the app I've been looking for. This allows me to stop saving recipes from the internet into word documents and printing them out to take to the store. This allows me to, in essence, create my own ecookbook, send it to my Kindle Fire, and create a shopping list! And, I had an issue at the start, but I contacted pepperplate's support people, and John was very patient with me (yes, it was me being dumb, not the app). Great response from the developer. Great app. If you are like me, trolling the internet for recipes to try at home, this is the app for you!

Update 2-16-12: Still using this app every single day. I can't recommend this app highly enough. Out of the hundreds of things I've downloaded onto my Kindle Fire, this remains my top of the charts application. At the very least, I've probably saved 10 trees by not having to print out recipes from the internet!

I heard about this app on a local news show and gave it a try. Now I can't stop telling others how much I love it. This app has helped me get my new and old favorite recipes all into one easy-to-use spot either on my desk-top, Kindle, and iPhone. It was so handy for planning, shopping and cooking for our Thanksgiving meal. I belong to Weight Watchers so having the right foods on hand for meal preparation is very important. I've added the "Add to Pepperplate" icon to my tool bar so now whenever I see a recipe that interests me online, I click that and, presto, its added to my Pepperplate file. Some websites don't work that easily, but I can cut and paste a recipe and save it in no time. I'm a visual person so I love the photos. I've also added some old family favorites onto my Pepperplate files and can make a grocery list no matter where I am. The menu planning and shopping features are a plus!! Go ahead and give it a try.

I can't believe this hasn't gotten more reviews! I got a Fire for xmas and have been searching for a good recipe database. I tried a couple that had a lot of reviews and none of them was what I was looking for. Then I stumbled upon PepperPlate and decided to give it a try -- especially because it's free. What did I have to lose? If you don't have time to read the rest of my review, I can summarize for you right here: if you are looking for a recipe app for the Android platform then this is the one you need to try! Now, if you're looking for more details, then continue reading.

This app has many great features, but the first that I noticed is how simple it is to use. It's very intuitive. Adding recipes to the database is a snap and the meal planning and shopping list features are a dream! Entering recipes from websites has to be the easiest thing ever. Just go to the PepperPlate website and download the PepperPlate bookmark (which for me, using Firefox, just meant dragging an icon into my Bookmarks bar) and you are ready to go. Go to a recipe on any website and simply click the PepperPlate bookmark and the recipe -- perfectly formatted -- will be instantly added to your recipe database. That's it: just one click of a button and you're done! There may be a few websites that don't work with PepperPlate so I should amend the previous sentence to say that I can't say for sure that 100% of websites are supported, but I know that I tried at least ten different websites (both well-known and obscure) and they all worked seamlessly. I've never found this ease of use in any other recipe database!

A recipe database is what I was looking for, but what I was HOPING for was an app that would allow me to plan a week's worth of menus and possibly help me with a shopping list.

Awesome digital cooking platform. I use the website, Android app and just set it up on the Kindle Fire. Definitely the most used app on my devices.

I've been using this app for months and love it- but its biggest flaw for me is the grocery list. While it is customizeable, it's limited. Foods group together incorrectly (ie: liquid egg substitute will show up on my shopping list as eggs & chicken lunch meat will group up with chicken breasts). Also setting up your grocery aisles is impossible. Not all grocery stores have the foods grouped together like pepperplate. Ive had to make a list of grocery items in word with the correct isles and re-arrange my list each week before going shopping. Otherwise I love this app. I'd like to see the bugs in the grocery list ironed out though. I'd be willing to spend more time setting up my recipes to save time in the long run.

I use this app on my kindle fire. I love it because I can store all my recipes found on line on this app however my only gripe with it is you can only transfer in recipes from certain websites and have to manually put recipes in from unsupported sites. It would be great if you could just put in the URL to any site and it upload the recipe for you.

I LOVE THIS APP! I wanna shout it from the rooftops, I love it so much!

My boyfriend doesn't mind eating the same stuff every night but me, I get bored. I love variety and I spend a lot of time at my computer scouring Pinterest, foodie blogs, and cooking web sites for yummy new recipes to satisfy my need for new gastronomical adventures.

In the not-so-distant past whenever I found a recipe I wanted to try I would copy/paste it into my OneNote program, print it out on a piece of paper, take it with me to the store to buy the ingredients, then bring the page into the kitchen where it would sit on my counter getting dirty with the stuff I spilled all over it while I was creating my meal. I had amassed a stack of pages that were pinned to the fridge with magnets or stuck in between the cookbooks on my kitchen shelf. The recipe clutter was driving me insane!

A couple of years ago my boyfriend bought me a Kindle Fire for Christmas. I decided I would try to use it as a cookbook. I converted some of my favorite recipes from my OneNote program to .DOCX or .PDF files and emailed them to my Kindle Fire. That worked out well for a while but it was so much work and the thumbnails never appeared on my Document list. Sometimes the formatting of the .DOCX or .PDF would change when I opened up the document on the Kindle. That would just annoy the hell out of me. I know it's not that big of a deal but I wanted to see the pics of each recipe and I wanted the file to retain its original formatting. I know. I'm so OCD. To this day I can't figure out why I never thought to search for a cookbook app. I guess I was skeptical that such an app could exist. Silly me.
