I grew up in a Spanish speaking society and I cherished my good old Pequeño Larousse Ilustrado. I still had it in 2002 but it was horribly beaten up and quite dated so I got the latest Edition.
This dictionary is a work of art, it even contains most idioms and colloquials from virtually every country in Latin America.
If the Spanish language plays an important role in your life or work, don't be without this dictionary.

It also doubles up as a very passable light weight encyclopedia, good for grade school projects and homework.
