PerTronix 40011 Flame-Thrower 40,000 Volt 1.5 ohm Coil

This coil together with their Pertronix Ignitor point replacement system transforms starting for older engines with conventional point ignition. I have used these in an inboard boat and an old Ford with the same great result. Just have some trouble then setting the timing with the old timing light. For some reason, the light no longer seems to work properly with the electronic ignition installed.

Second purchase of this particular coil and it has provided great performance for me on a 351W Ford, and a 350 Chevy. I like this particular coil and the associated Distributor. I give it 2 thumbs up.

The first one of these I got was a 3 ohm, the box said 1.5 and I ordered a 1.5, so somebody pulled the old switcheroo. After getting the right one it worked great. I put this on a 65 Mustang with 302. I also installed the Pertronix Ignitor 1. Took a few minutes. But I had to run another wire with 12v from ignition to the coil rather than use the pink resistor wire in the old mustangs.

I recently installed this in my wife's Corvette, along with the PerTronix electronic distributor up-grade. It worked well. I did find the coil is slightly larger in diameter but was able to utilize the original mounting bracket with a longer screw in it. I found it to be a cost effective and a worth while up-grade.

You can't beat pertronix products. They make good coils that outlast most other brands I have had. The black color looks great too in the engine bay.


EDIT: 4 months later and this thing still starts my car everyday. Has not lost any color either.
EDIT: Almost a year later and still no problems. Which is a suprise because my 65 mustang's engine is pretty lopey.

No problems with this vendor but I have to write a long message just to
