Product Description

While it’s the perfect coil to go with the PerTronix Ignitor breakerless ignition, our 40,000 volt Flame-Thrower canister coil can benefit virtually any distributor type inductive system. Its higher voltage allows largerspark plug gaps for added power, smoother response and better fuel economy. These coils are internally resisted so installation and wiring is drastically simplified. Our oil filled coils offer great heat control for street driven vehicles, while our epoxy filled coils provide superior winding support for high vibration environments in off-road vehicles and boats.

If you are buying an electronics upgrade, just buy this too takes the guessing out and you should not have to worry about your coil for a very very long time.

Using a peak kv tester this coil was putting out 12kv at best using standard bosch wires, ngk plugs and bosch dis cap. And it is oil filled and epoxy like the Bosch blue which in my set up puts out around 18kv. I went with bosch.

My old 009 distributor bit the dust. I put in a new flame thrower coil and a matching distributor and in about 15 minutes I had her running like mad again!

I installed a pair of pertronix coils in my Laverda 750SF (Italian 70s motor bike) as i was installing a new electronic ignition to replace the old points system and wanted a good new system to run the bike after rebuilding the motor. The bike would fire up sweetly but ran like poop under load which I blamed on teething problems, such as and needing the carbs adjusted etc. Well to make a long story short after pretty much dropping the motor to double check cam timing, replacing every jet in the carbs, messing with the ignition timing repeatdly i decided to put the old Bosch coils back in the bike - runs perfectly now and wished i thought of it earlier but why would a new coil be bad?!?! Unfortunately the 90 day warranty was passed, as it was a weekend project - but for the $30 for each coil and the nightmare with them i'm just as happy to toss them in the trash - wish i'd just gone with new Bosch replacements in the first place
