This is a nice sit on top fishing kayak at a great price! The kayak comes nicely equipped. It has a large dry storage area at the bow, another small one in front of the seat and a 3rd behind the seat. The bow storage area is big enough that you can slide a rigged fishing rod inside and stow one to the right side and another to the left and the channels made by the scupper holes will keep them from rattling around. There are carry handles fore and aft and at each side. There is paddle keeper at the right side handle and a flush-mount rod holder just behind the seat at the right. I would have preferred 2 rod holders but I will install a second one myself. There is a nice size tank well in the rear and adjustable foot pegs. Scupper holes in front, mid, under the seat and in the tank well. Although this kayak is meant more for open water I took it on a river run for it's first outing. Nothing like a river to give you an idea of handling, stability and speed. The stability is good. You can sit side saddle and move forward and back in the thing without being overly concerned with capsizing. The handling was good through small rapids and no problem guiding the yak through chutes and around obstacles. I bumped some submerged rocks in places where they were impossible to avoid due to low water and so I know the craft is going to be durable. Speed was decent for the type of kayak this is. The ride will eventually get you a wet butt as the scuppers below the seat will allow some water up into the seat area. I am going to experiment with some removable scupper plugs under the seat to see if that helps, but a wet seat is an issue with a lot of sit on tops. Overall I would highly recommend this Kayak especially for someone wanting a good well equipped fishing kayak at a very reasonable price.

I purchased my 12' pescador early this spring, before the ice had even come off the water. I was so excited to finally get a fishing kayak and replace my trusty old 10' dagger zydeco I'd had for years.

First, it didn't come at all. After a couple weeks, I contacted amazon...it was lost!?!? OK, they ordered me another...without either rod holder in the back like advertised. However, I talked to preception and they sent one for free...ok, but now I have to install it. No big deal, but a bit irritating. Not preceptions fault though. I talked to Amazon and they gave me a very sizeable refund for my trouble. So in the end, my kayak ended up being much cheaper than the very reasonable price...so after some trouble, and a couple weeks, I finally got it.

I got right to work modifying it, adding another rod holder (2 behind seat), added a RAM forward mounted rod holder, added a anchor trolley, removed a one of the carry handles, installed a milk crate with 4 additional rod holders and a light rack on the back. I also installed 4 rod leashes, and a paddle leash. The final touch was practice-golf balls (purchased here on amazon) to plug all the holes except for the ones at my feet (so water could still drain). I use an app to navigate with my phone, and to find fishing location, but plan to put in a depth finder very soon...and perhaps a custom sail? We'll see.

My first outing was to use it for muskie. I didn't catch anything, but the kayak performed brilliantly on the large river. I then used it a bit later for walleye in a lake, and again, nothing caught, but the kayak was great.

I then didn't really get to use it much again until this summer. Now, I feel I can finally give my impressions of it.

First, you CAN stand up in it. Is it easy?

I love this kayak! I bought two of these (ordered through Marine West and used price matching with Amazon price to maximize savings) at $478 a piece. These are wonderful kayaks. Very stable and very maneuverable (turns on a dime like a shorter boat). I'm hoping that the cheaper fittings (plastic vs metal rails for foot rests) last. Otherwise, I can not find any fault with these kayaks. They are relatively fast for SOT's, are stable, have truly waterproof dry wells and are very easy to handle to load on top of a car or a trailer.

Nice Kayak! Tracks well, plenty of room for my gear. I wanted a Wilderness Systems Tarpon, but this is a rebranded 2008 Tarpon. Got it for WAYYY less. If you're lacking in upper body strength, try the 10'. Apparently Perception and WS are owned by the same company.

Overall, I couldn't beat the price!!

I started kayaking seriously this past summer and was looking for a step-up from the basic recreational kayaks I own. After extensive research, I decided on the Pescador. I wasn't disappointed. It's very stable, fast and tracks extremely well. I've incorporated kayaking into my exercise routine, and the adjustable foot pegs and comfortable high-back seat enable me to work my abs hard!
Of course, there are trade-offs with some benefits - the superior tracking makes it a bit of a challenge for quick, sharp turns. But I've learned how to adjust, and the great tracking is most important to me.
I think the Pescador is probably one of the best values available to recreational/fitness kayakers who want a good workout on a modest budget.
