Perfect For Percussion Lovers,
By A Customer
This review is from: Percussion (Audio CD)
I own a World music Club in Istanbul and this CD is one of the most popular among the other CDs we play in our place. Anybody hears Guem et Zaka in my place comes and asks the name and the label of the CD. Although it is a percussion dominated album there are also beautiful melodies created by various instruments. Not only percussion lovers but everybody will love this album hearing its irresistable sound. I personally know this with my own experiences in my place watching people dancing joyfully and unconciously with Guem Et zaka. Buy this album without hesitation, you will add a unique piece to your CD collection.

Absolutely cool!,
By Mar Calpena (Barcelona, Spain) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Percussion (Audio CD)
This is a very energetic CD that draws not only in African percussion but also in Middle Eastern rythms (perfect music for shimmies, if you ask me) and from the sounds of many other places. Most tracks are fairly quick, so it's not a relaxing kind of album. Sometimes I don't like African percussion as I find it too jazzy and self absorbed, but this is not the case with this record. As it's very hard to describe the joyous music here, let me just say it's on the same wavelength as Gabrielle Roth's "Bones", Dead can Dance "Yulunga" or Hossam Ramzy "Sabla Tolo", but also very unique and distinctibly African flavoured at its core. An absolute must.
