More About the Author
Bob Snider, a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) and his master's degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
He has performed as a soloist/clinician for the American Bandmasters Association, the Midwest Clinic, the Western International Band Clinic, the American Band College, and on three Percussive Arts Society International Conventions.
He has had numerous articles published in Band World magazine and in the Percussive Notes. His book "Percussion Section Techniques" written with Steve Grimo, is published by Meredith/Hal Leonard.
Snider has also performed with many local community bands and symphony orchestras in Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Virginia and Maryland; and for 3 years was assistant director of bands and percussion instructor at the University of Wisconsin (Green Bay).
Selected for the United States Navy Band-Washington DC, in 1981, he is currently the National Tour Director. Previous to that assignment, he was a percussionist and later timpanist with the Concert Band and drummer for the Country Current - country/bluegrass band.
When off duty, Snider is an active freelance percussionist in the Washington area and maintains a busy home percussion studio in Owings, Maryland.
