5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Substitute Pet
This sweet cat looks and feels real. From the back you would swear a young adult cat was lying on the bed. This is a good solution for an older adult who can't have a real cat at present. 1.0 out of 5 stars My tabby no longer works and I've had it less than 6 months!
I received my tabby around the end of April 2007 and it operated properly for about 4 or 5 months. When it stopped working I replaced both batteries and it still didn't work. What's worse, I e-mailed sunnypix (the vendor) to ask how we can rectify this situation, and I haven't heard a word from them. Subsequently, I no longer recommend this vendor. I'm extremely unhappy...

This sweet cat looks and feels real. From the back you would swear a young adult cat was lying on the bed. This is a good solution for an older adult who can't have a real cat at present. I use mine without the batteries as a friend to stroke sometimes. This cat isn't squeezable as a regular plush animal because it has electronics inside to make it look like it's breathing when batteries are added. But you wouldn't squeeze a real cat anyway. It looks and feels very real. It is a joy to have on the bed or in a chair to stroke now and then.

4.0 out of 5 stars A charming, no fuss companion..., November 26, 2007

I received one of these toy tabbies as a gift and just love it! It is really cute and at least to the casual observer seems real. I put it on my desk at work and many people stopped to admired it. A few people were startled when they realized that it was "breathing". My family lost a cherished real kitty a few months ago and at least for now we cannot get another one. In the interim this toy has been a great thing for us.
While I don't think this would be a good toy for rough and tumble play it could be a good tool for teaching a young child to be respectful and gentle with animals before a real pet comes home. The cute appearance and the soothing purring sound has made it a good pseudo companion for a family member who is in her mid eighties. I have not had my tabby long enough to speak on the subjects of battery life or durability but even if the breathing mechanism eventually fails the toy will still be very cute to look at.

4.0 out of 5 stars cute to have for the elderly, February 11, 2007
this may not be the toy for your kids, but it certainly gets rave reviews with the elderly population. this actually looks like it is breathing while sleeping and purrs. great gift for that elderly person that can no longer take care of a pet. It has been a hit with my grandfathers assisted living tenants. the only recommendation is to keep plenty of batteries available, it does go through them. you never have to feed it, clean it's litter box or take it to the vet, just set it on an elderly persons lap and watch the smile on their faces and the stories they tell of their previous pets. very theraputic

This little stuffed cavalier looks SO much like my flesh, fur and blood one that when they sleep together, and are all curled up with each other, I have to look really hard to see which one is the real one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for Elderly Person, April 4, 2010

This review is from: Perfect Petzzz® (Misc.)
I bought one of these as a Christmas present for my 96 year old mother-in-law who lives in a nursing home. Two of her three sons had gotten new dogs last year, and she wanted a dog too. Her sons pointed out all the reasons why she could not properly take care of a pet (the home does allow them if residents can take care of them), and she replied "But what about me?" In other words, she really wanted the companionship of a dog, even if she couldn't care for one. This was the perfect answer, and she loves holding and petting the dog. I got a spaniel, because she had always had spaniels, and she named it after the first dog she and her late husband had.

For her birthday, I've gone to PetSmart and made a tag for her dog with his name on it. Though I've not yet sent the tag, I expect she will be pleased with it.

These dogs cannot be as soft and cuddly as a regular stuffed animal (or a live dog), but the "breathing" is very appealing. My mother-in-law has both good and bad days, and though I'm sure that, on some level, she understands that this is a toy, it still gives her the sense of companionship she'd have from a live dog. And, after all, imagination is one of the most wonderful qualities of the human mind, so I don't think it really matters if she is confused about the "reality" of this pet or using her imagination. It is giving her happiness, and something to talk about with to the people around her.

3.0 out of 5 stars Daughters love is Dad's Disbelief, December 26, 2007
By

(REAL NAME)
My daughter loves her Perfect Petzzz King Charles Spaniel. But I was disappointed. It breathes and you can see the stomach rise and fall with each breath, but that is it. There is no advertising that says it does any more so it is not deceptive in any way. By itself, that would be fine and I would rate it at 4 stars because children, including my daughter, seem to love it. However, there is no way to turn the Perfect Petzzz on and off. No switch. It takes two 'D' batteries which burned out in 5 days because it is on all the time. Figure $2 minimum for the batteries per week and this is one expensive puppy!

2.0 out of 5 stars short-lived, December 7, 2007
I got my orange tabby Perfect Petzz cat about 6 months ago. It has not been dropped or handled roughly. After 5 months, the cat stopped "breathing." I put brand new batteries in twice, tested the batteries to insure they were good, and it still does not work.

It is a sweet cat and has generated many comments sitting on my office desk. However, this product is short-lived.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks nothing like picture and batteries last a week., March 26, 2008
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
The cat they send you looks like an adult cat, not like the cute kitten in the Amazon picture. Nevertheless, it looks possibly more realistic than in the photo, but if you're expecting the cute kitten in the photo, you'll be disappointed. Perhaps they have changed the appearance of the cat, because there seems to be a custommer image that was sent at the end of 2007, and that image looks the same as the original cute kitten image on Amazon. But believe me, the cat they send you looks nothing like either photos. Also, they tell you the batteries last 3 months. Far from it. The first time I put batteries in, they lasted 2 weeks. The second time, they lasted 1 week. Yet when I measure the power of the batteries afterwards, they supposedly still have lots of juice. The custommer service guy is excellent, though, and very kind. If Amazon had the correct photo for this cat and said the batteries lasted a week instead of 3 months, I would have given this review 5 stars. I just hate being lied to.
