It took 45 minutes to bake two bacon bowls in the oven, and 15 minutes in the microwave, even though the instructions say to cook no more than 4 minutes.

When I saw this product, I thought to myself, this is great! I have got to have it! Then reality set in when it arrived and I tried to use it. First off, the bacon won't stay put and slides down the side of the bowl into the grease. Then the bacon grease splatters all over the inside of the oven and smokes up the whole kitchen. I would return it but most of my payment was for shipping & handling, so I would only get a $10 refund after spending $27. That's how they keep people from returning this lousy product. After spending about $5 to ship it back, the refund would be only $5 (less than 20% of the paid price). Hey AllStar Product Group, I want my whole $27 back!!!

you do know that if you just flip over a muffin tin you have like 8 bacon bowls right in front of you. just put it in a 9x13 pan to drain the grease.

I saw this bacon-bowl maker and thought, well, there's the "As Seen On TV" label, your mark of quality, so I thought I'd try it. Little did I know I was committing an act of heresy right in my own kitchen. If this had been during the Spanish Inquisition, I'd have been frying myself at the stake. But nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition and anyway, they didn't have microwaves. Which brings me to my main point: If God had intended bacon to come in bowl-shaped hemispheres, he'd have made pigs shaped like turtles.

Instead, this thing caused my microwave to catch fire--well, admittedly I bought seven or nine of these and fired them all up at once. Has anyone ever told you what a grease fire does to a microwave? It was like hellfire. I think the Devil personally now resides in my microwave. There's a little black smoldering lump in there still, and I think it may be The Dark Lord.

Plus: makes a cute little bowl for guacamole
Cons: can damage microwave, burn down house, risk of eternal damnation or at least, breaks a lot of laws in Leviticus.

It wasnt as easy as the tv would make you believe. Bacon was stuck to the dish, kt wasnt cooked all the way, and there was no book included. Waste of money!!!

Ok, I don't understand why you would need to buy this? I've used an inverted muffin pan or a mini muffin pan (bite-sized appetizers) for this purpose for years! Hint, cover the pan with a deep cake pan to prevent splattering up your oven. If your muffin tin doesn't have a ridge when it is turned upside down, put a cookie sheet under it that has sides. Be sure to use a couple of toothpicks into the bacon to keep it's shape and keep it from sliding down the pan. Spend your money on the bacon, not on a cheap pan.

Bought this at a local discount store that starts with a "W", the two pack was ten dollars eighty-eight cents & there were detailed instructions in the box. For my first attempt the bacon I had on hand was paper-thin mostly-fat store-brand bacon, so I didn't expect perfect results. They recommend starting off with 2 min 30 seconds for a 1100 watt microwave; mine is 1200 watts & I went with 2 minutes. Result was a very hard, overcooked, shrunken, gross-looking mini-bowl that resembled a fossilized monkey brain.

I then bought O.M. brand "Center Cut" bacon (which is thicker and has more meat/less fat) for my second attempt & these turned out AWESOME! They aren't as "perfect" looking as the bowls on the box, but it's bacon...so obviously each slice cooks differently, some "prettier" than others. I used 3 slices of bacon, wrapped as shown in the directions, & for my 1200 watt microwave I discovered 1 minute 40 seconds (covered with one piece of a select-a-size paper towel) makes almost-perfect looking bowls (a tad misshapen along the bacon edges, as most slices of bacon aren't perfectly straight, but they still look/work great, just not as perfect-looking as the ones on the box).

BOO to all of the "reviewers" here that haven't even tried the product & are giving it 1 star because you can do the same thing with a muffin tin in the oven. Do you not understand the concept of reviewing an actual PRODUCT that you have actually tried? Do you people lead such sorry lives that you also spend your days giving a 1 star review to every book on Amazon that you can also get at the library because you feel it's a stupid waste of money to buy it?

So, it's pictured as coming in a box, but when i got it delivered, it just came in a plastic bag. It was just a cheap piece of plastic, with no instructions or anything. Just a plastic bowl. Overrated!

No instructions, no suggestions for fillings, nothing.....what oven temp? How long to cook? Could have at least included SOME recipe ideas. I thought it was more safe to order from here than the tv site, guess I should have taken the chance.
