As another reviewer noted, these are stressful times. But this book helped me. The last time I was in a business meeting, getting worked up about something, I remembered this book. I took a slow, unobtrusive breath in, held it for a second, and let it slowly out. My tension evaporated and I was able to listen more effectively.

"Perfect Written" by Al Lee and Don Campbell explains the importance of breathing in maintaining emotional balance, achieving top athletic performance, and living spiritually. It offers good simple breathing exercises that will improve an individual's well-being.

While it is well-written it is far from an engaging read. The authors could have spent more...

As another reviewer noted, these are stressful times. But this book helped me. The last time I was in a business meeting, getting worked up about something, I remembered this book. I took a slow, unobtrusive breath in, held it for a second, and let it slowly out. My tension evaporated and I was able to listen more effectively.

This book's fact-based approach of using the latest research to support its claims really helped its credibility in my opinion. And using the exercises helped me experience the benefits directly. I just wish I could read it while driving on the freeway - it would help me cope with the morning commute!

There's a lot of material here, covering all sorts of aspects of medicine, art, sports, and spirituality. Some of the sections weren't really relevant to me -- I'm not a athlete, for example, so the coaching it offers isn't as helpful to me as it might be to a runner or ball player. But it's easy to pick up if I have just a moment and there's always an interesting quote, practical fact or breath technique I can use.

I haven't spent much time thinking about breathing. But, I wish I had. Authors Lee and Campbell provide the how and why breathing is so important beyond merely allowing you to live. Their well-written and engaging book explores how breathing is the key to so many things such as our ability to heal, feel content, perform at work and play, and even deepen our spiritual experience. I particularly liked the stories from breathing masters as well as the practical advice on how to incorporate "perfect breathing" into daily life. In these tough economic times, this book provides great insight into how to use breathing as a way to meet life's challenges.

Outstanding! This book has been very helpful and will be on my nightstand forever more (well, for a very long time anyway). I am grateful for this book and all the reminders and exercises it gives. In the past 6 years I have lost my mother, father, and only sibling, as a result of lung diseases; this book reminds me how much I love life and want to benefit from perfect breathing for many years to come. My upcoming spring hike to the Canyonlands in Utah will give me many opportunities to practice breathing and ENJOY LIFE.

I approach books like this one with a mixture of interest and skepticism. Interest simply because well being and preventive health seem so obvious, but skepticism because I'm not by nature a "touchy feely" sort and I feel like there's a lot of garbage or regurgitated information in the health and fitness domain. Which is why I like this book so much. It does a great, quick job of reinforcing some basic, common sense wisdom about breathing that is nevertheless easy to forget, while offering a lot of unique wisdom and some good easy-to-reproduce exercises and tips. Though I haven't adhered completely to the "breathing course" (my term) prescribed by Lee and Campbell, since reading the book I have kept a lot of their advice in mind and been consciously paying attention to my breathing, particularly when I'm doing anything physical, whether simply walking down the street or playing basketball. You know what? The stuff they suggest really helps you just feel more relaxed and focused on whatever it is you're doing. I suppose not everyone needs to be reminded to take deep, full breaths all the time, but there are lots of interesting stories and quotes from different sorts of people in the book (mountain climbers, yogis, doctors, etc.) that keep coming back to me and reminding me that breathing truly is the cornerstone of life. I know, that sounds self-evident, but it's amazing how much about breathing we take for granted and how much just little tweaks to the way we do it can make us feel a lot better. Great, interesting, eye-opening, positive book.

Perfect Breathing is an excellent tool to relieving all the stress in our modern lives. The fact that we don't need to take 20 minutes a day to breathe -- that if we simply, consciously breathe we can re-ground ourselves -- is a relief. Likewise, the notion of the six-second breath has been hugely helpful as I work with clients. Thank you for reminding us of the power of breath!

I'm 72 and received a copy of this book, PERFECT BREATHING. I've read it and rely on it for reminders about breathing techniques to keep me living a better quality of life. The last chapter was so profound! It's message to me is that we are individually responsible for the quality of life we have....one breath at a time up to the last one. Mr. Lee and Mr. Campbell are to be congratulated for creating a powerful message for all who read their book.

Perfect Breathing...simply a perfect book! It has helped me so much and it will help you too! Read this book to unlock the secrets of what proper breathing can do for you. The interviews are insightful and the breathing exercises really do work. Many of the techniques helped me through a difficult medical situation and have soothed me after many stressful days. A big thanks to Campbell & Lee for writing this book.

"Perfect Written" by Al Lee and Don Campbell explains the importance of breathing in maintaining emotional balance, achieving top athletic performance, and living spiritually. It offers good simple breathing exercises that will improve an individual's well-being.

While it is well-written it is far from an engaging read. The authors could have spent more time researching the book, and offered more vivid examples. I think only those who understand the importance of breathing (either because they like to work out or meditate) will actually read this book, and so I don't understand why it has to spend 90 percent of the time preaching to the converted. Running at 223 pages it's also too long: it should have been kept under 100 pages.
