Do you really want to taste your coffee? Yes? Get this!,

This is the way to make coffee if you are like me -- love coffee but hate the sour bitter watery flavor you get out of most coffee machines. In regular machines, you usually can't taste the difference between brands of coffee. That all changes once you figure out how to make coffee the right way -- in one of these. Coffee recipe in the melita: 3-4 tablespoons of medium ground coffee grinds. The amount depends on the roast of the coffee. Darker more flavorful beans get about 3 tbsp, light breakfast roast beans get 4 tbsp. 12 oz (1 1/2 cup) cold water in microwave safe measuring cup. Microwave 2 1/2 minutes in microwave (until bubbles start forming on the sides of the container) The goal is 155-170F water. (If you happen to have a meat thermometer -- that is medium well.) ***DON'T boil the water**** it leaves the coffee tasting bitter and horrible. Hotter water gives you more bitter coffee, but takes less grinds. Cooler water gives less bitter more flavorful coffee, but uses lots and lots of grinds to get full flavor. Now, pour the water through the grinds in your melita filter and into your cup. Mmmmmm java-licious.

This little gadget makes the best coffee (read about it long ago in a Tony Hillerman novel, and what do you know!, it really was as good as Joe Leaphorn said!). Anyway, I've had a couple of these for twenty years and broke one. I have been searching high and low for years to find a replacement. I'm so happy to be able to buy it again and now I can get extras for gifts. People are always so surprised when they taste the coffee. It's always perfect and tastes much better than coffee made in most coffee makers. As long as you can boil water, you can have a great cup of coffee wherever you go.

Simple and efficient way to make great-tasting coffee,

Next to a french press, this is the simplest and most efficient way to make great-tasting coffee. The primary advantage that filter cones and french presses have over drip brewers is that drip brewers usually do not get the water hot enough to brew the coffee properly. Coffee is very temperature sensitive, and even a degree or two can make a big difference to the discerning palate. The temperature you should aim for is around 197-202 degrees F (not 175, as another reviewer stated); bring your water to a boil, turn off the flame and grind your coffee beans, and when you're done (1-1.5 mins later) your water should be about the right temperature. The amount of coffee you use will depend on the coarseness of grind and volume of water, but start with 3-4 tablespoons per 10-12 oz. cup then experiment according to taste. If you use high quality, freshly-roasted beans, evenly ground and brewed at the proper temperature, your filter cone will produce coffee rivaling most coffee shops.
The main disadvantage of the filter cone is that they are generally made out of plastic, and you can sometimes taste the plastic in your cup. If you're lucky enough to find a ceramic filter cone, I would get it because ceramic doesn't leave any residual taste. For more info on coffee, check out www.coffeeresearch.org.

Sometimes the simplest things are the best things,

I've had this little filter cup since grad school. For a quick cup, it can't be beat. Clean-up means dumping the filter into the trash and swishing out the filter under the tap. I am rather nostalgic about this filter, as my flute teacher would use one to make a cup of French Roast before we started a lesson.

This little doodad is a great item to have. Not only is it quicker than waiting for an entire pot to be made, but it's a fresh cup every time you need it. Only criticism I have, is that it's a little difficult to find in stores.

I have one of these and wanted to get one for my mother-in-law who appreciates good coffee but who can't be bothered with having to brew a whole pot. I've looked locally, but haven't been able to find it ... and voila, here it is! Search no more! This little jobby makes great tasting coffee ... just scoop in a few tablespoons and pour over hot water, and enjoy. I can't stand the flavor of the inexpenive coffee we brew at work so I keep one of these in my drawer at the office. Now I can make GOOD coffee at a fraction the cost of one of the coffee stores. I also use it while camping or traveling. Enjoy your coffee!

Simply the best!,

I have been using one of these to brew my morning coffee every day for more than 10 years. Since my wife does not drink coffee, it seems a waste to use a "normal" 10-12 cup maker for the 8-12 ounces I require; even the small electric 2-4 cup makers are just too much hassle. This wonderful piece of equipment gives me maximum coffee flavor with minimal effort. I'm glad to see that Melitta still makes it. Incidentally, mine came with a matching ceramic mug, which I'm also still using after all these years!

Inherited treasure,

I stole this item from my parents, who used to drink lots of coffee once upon a time, when I went away for my last year of college. It works great. Makes great coffee on the run. I use it for my prized Kona coffee. I was hesitant at first because Kona coffee is hard to come by and expensive, but it proved me wrong. My coffee was smooth and not bitter. It's great for making just one cup of coffee at a time. It's convenient and easy to clean up. For a space conscious college student, it's very small and easy to store. I love it and highly recommend it.

Ground Coffee, without the coffeemaker,

These days, with all the hastles of trying to make coffee with the coffeemaker, many people just get tired of just making a mess in the kitchen sink. Thankfully, Melita made the clever notion of making it for just one cup, with their Perfect Brew. It is a convient cup filer, that you just simply place over your individual coffee mug, put the ground coffee in the #2 filter, and pour hot water from your kettle. It is just that simple and convient. I like this product a whole lot, because it is inexpensive, and easy to cleanup after. It is a great buy for anybody who wants their own coffeemaker, without the electricity or mess from a inconvient machine. I absolutely love this item a whole lot, and it is definitely worth the price.

Just a big waste of time. Item Unavailable - Order cancelled. Looking at the reviews, this is not the first time this has happened, yet 'Esppressoparts' does not seem to value the customer enough to update the listing.
