5.0 out of 5 stars A "WAKE UP" to the music industry !!!, January 25, 2004
By Remy (Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
In listening to these guys's album, and catching some of there older material...it's completely unrealistic how there spotlight has been dampened by the likes of a Nickelback or Creed. I realize the groups that rotate our local radio stations and T.V. music stations, have talent...But, how does a genuine gem of such raw talent , emotion, and a unbelievable amount of drive not stand above the usual carbon copies. Dakona is definetly one of those once in a generation wake up's, that let you know that theres still a meaning in music other than album sales, money, and sounding like your next door neighbor. If your'e one of those who have been entranced the past few years, get this album and wake up...lets get these guys the attention and respect they deserve....before they dissapear.

5.0 out of 5 stars dakona is awesome!, October 13, 2003
Like Megan, I was at the dakona/Jason Mraz/Michelle Branch concert at OU. dakona blew me away - I loved Ryan's stage presentation! He had a deep voice, and the way he slid down the microphone, soulfully singing on bended knee, had me hooked. At intermission, I ran from my seat to buy their CD. The guys (who are very sweet, personable) were gracious enough to sign it and chat with me afterwards. "Perfect Change" has been on continuous play since the concert; I can't get enough of it! I love their original lyrics ("If it'd mother all the orphans in my head"), and their sound couldn't be any better. I love all the tracks, and by all means couldn't pick a favorite - each song has its own unique characteristic that makes the whole album enjoyable. This is what rock should sound like! Thank you so much for a memorable evening, and a great CD for my collection! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great New Artist, October 1, 2003
By Steve Hunt "Crazy Steve" (Townsville, Queensland Australia) - See all my reviews
I bought this album purely on the recommendation of George Siegl who runs aorheaven.com, as he knows good music and he rated this highly. I am certainly glad I listened to him.

If you imagine a blend of Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, Vonray with a dash of U2 then you have Dakona. They have great songs that are catchy as hell, and are just slightly different to alot of other bands around at present.

Do yourself a favour and buy this album.
