A "WAKE UP" to the music industry !!!,
By Remy (Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Perfect Change (Audio CD)
In listening to these guys's album, and catching some of there older material...it's completely unrealistic how there spotlight has been dampened by the likes of a Nickelback or Creed. I realize the groups that rotate our local radio stations and T.V. music stations, have talent...But, how does a genuine gem of such raw talent , emotion, and a unbelievable amount of drive not stand above the usual carbon copies. Dakona is definetly one of those once in a generation wake up's, that let you know that theres still a meaning in music other than album sales, money, and sounding like your next door neighbor. If your'e one of those who have been entranced the past few years, get this album and wake up...lets get these guys the attention and respect they deserve....before they dissapear.

Like Megan, I was at the dakona/Jason Mraz/Michelle Branch concert at OU. dakona blew me away - I loved Ryan's stage presentation! He had a deep voice, and the way he slid down the microphone, soulfully singing on bended knee, had me hooked. At intermission, I ran from my seat to buy their CD. The guys (who are very sweet, personable) were gracious enough to sign it and chat with me afterwards. "Perfect Change" has been on continuous play since the concert; I can't get enough of it! I love their original lyrics ("If it'd mother all the orphans in my head"), and their sound couldn't be any better. I love all the tracks, and by all means couldn't pick a favorite - each song has its own unique characteristic that makes the whole album enjoyable. This is what rock should sound like! Thank you so much for a memorable evening, and a great CD for my collection! :)

Great New Artist,

I bought this album purely on the recommendation of George Siegl who runs aorheaven.com, as he knows good music and he rated this highly. I am certainly glad I listened to him.If you imagine a blend of Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, Vonray with a dash of U2 then you have Dakona. They have great songs that are catchy as hell, and are just slightly different to alot of other bands around at present. Do yourself a favour and buy this album.

Get in on the ground floor with these guys!,
By Jill L. Harman (Athens, OH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Perfect Change (Audio CD)
I first heard Dakona in Athens, OH as well. They were the warmup band for two other "known" acts, but that shouldn't have been the case. These guys should have been headliners! While their sound is comparable to groups like Creed and U2, they aren't a cookie cutter version of either. Passionate vocals and a driving rock sound make this CD great to listen to on road trips or if you're just looking for something to wake you up a little.

I had never heard of Dakona until they opened for Michelle Branch at Ohio University on October 11th and they blew me away. I had to run from my seat to buy the album right away and rushed home to listen to more. Amazing amazing band that you will not be dissapointed with. I wish I could give you a comparison to another band but these guys are in a class of their own. A must buy!!

This cd has depth! Most cd's take time to "grow on you" but I gurantee that if you like rock with strong melodies and are filled with deep emotion, you will fall in love with this album after one listening. I had never heard of them and they quickly became my favorite. I think I've been ruined since, cause every rock band I've listened to after just doesn't compare. I may be too loyal...

Over a year and still spinning,
By Gen and Jason Anderson (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Perfect Change (Audio CD)
I first saw Dakona in the Spring of 2003 as they were opening for Tonic. Their show totally caught me off guard and hooked me... right from the very first song ("Untouchable"). Perfect Change is the first CD that I can honestly say has been in my CD changer now for almost a full year and I have no intention of it leaving. I have never been able to say this about another CD in my collection. This band is the total package..music, lyrics and incredible talent from each and every member. Their live show is incredible and after seeing them several times I can say I am looking forward to the next live show. I am also looking forward to their next CD. My personal favs include the title track, "Trampoline","Center of The World" and "In God's Name".

Best Band You've Never Heard of,
This review is from: Perfect Change (Audio CD)
I had never heard of these guys until I saw them opening for Seven Mary Three in a tiny club in Detroit, and I was completely amazed at how great they sounded. Their album, Perfect Change, is no different, and is a great purchase if you like any type of rock or alternative music. They have an original sound and the music has soul to it, unlike most new bands today who all too often regurgitate the same generic garbage of the moment.

Great CD,
By A Customer
This review is from: Perfect Change (Audio CD)
After seeing them at OU, I decided to buy the CD. I love a lot of the songs! I love the voice and over all sound! And I love that the lyrics are a little more substantial than many popular groups, tend to have good content, and don't have the language and attitude that detract from some music that I love the sound of. They were the only part of the concert that I really enjoyed.
