Product Description

The Thermo Pond Perfect Climate Submersible Pond De-Icer is the first pond de-icer designed with all ponds in mind, both small and large. When used as a submersible, the Thermo Pond Perfect Climate Submersible Pond De-Icer is designed to keep open water in ponds up to 300 gallons, 18 inches deep or less. The de-icer is thermostatically controlled and all heating elements are enclosed so they will not harm or burn your pond liner. It also has inlets molded into the design so the heater can be used in tandem with air or water pumps to increase circulation. Thermo Pond Perfect Climate Submersible Pond De-Icer is not designed to be a submersible pond de-icer in ponds larger than 300 gallons. The best time to install your Thermo-Pond Perfect Climate Submersible Pond De-Icer is before your pond freezes over.

I have a 70 Gallon Pond in my small backyard. I have NO KOI but all fantail goldfish ,from Black Moors to Lion Head Orandas all over two years old and over 5 to 7 inches in lenght. The fancy types I have cannot handle constant temps in the 30 to 40 degree range. The fish are way too large to bring indoors so that is not an option this year. This De-Icer keeps the ice from forming and water temp in the mid to high 40's and the fish are swimming about during the day. I recommend this De-Icer for small ponds especially those with fantail goldfish other hardy fancy types. DO NOT MIX KOI WITH FANTAILS, Koi Do not need any de-icing but a small airator (bubbles)to keep the ice from forming a complete sheet over the pond traping poisonious gases.

It kept the pond from freezing over in 15 degree weather and the water temp maintained a constant level of 40 degrees. My pond is only a hundred gallons and only stocked with fancy fantail goldfish. Koi are were kept but grew too large so over the last two years I only raise fantails of all varities and they too have max'ed their size in this outdoor setting. I am very pleased with the quality of the heater and it has dual use as either a floatation or submersible unit. You cannot beat it for efficency and price.

This heater used very little electricity and kept my goldfish alive all winter. I am very impressed!

I bought this to keep my 200 gallon pond free of ice this winter, as it said that it kept an entire 300 gallon pond of ice. Isn't actually the case; as the temperature goes down, it narrows down to a small hole, and it works best in conjunction with a pump. However, it appears to be extremely energy efficient, which is of course why it only keeps part of the pond open, so it's a very good trade-off. I'm in Wisconsin and we're starting off with a fairly cold and nasty winter, and it's keeping my little pond open for the birds and the critters beautifully. All in all, very happy I purchased it and definitely recommend.

I purchased this pond de-icer from another supplier 4 years ago. I initially used it in a small pre-formed pond. It kept that pond almost completely ice free for two years. I since built a larger pond (appoximately 275 gallons). This de-icer is still working in that pond, but it only keeps a small area above the de-icer clear of ice in colder weather (10 degrees or below). I note that if debris such as leaves accumulates on the bottom around the de-icer it does not work as well.

I purchased a 250 watt heater from this same manufacturer and supplier last year. It didn't even last one year. I would strongly recommend this product over the other so long as the user has a smaller pond.

This heater lasted me two winters before it filled up with water and died on me. But for the money I thought it was worth it.

I really like the heater. I have used it submerged and floating. All you need to float it is a long screw that will fit the threads on the top. I found one laying around. I then cut a circular piece of styrofoam and put a hole in it. I layed it over the screw shaft and then put a plastic lilly pad over that. I cut the excess screw sticking out close to the lilly pad and covered it with the lilly pad flower. I used a very short piece of air tubing on the end of the screw closest to the lilly pad and stuck the stem of the flower into the tubing to hold it in place. It floats fine.Doesnt take much to float the heater. I cut the styrofoam smaller than the diameter of the lilly pad so you cant see it.

I bought this product a few months ago. Unfortunately, I just started using it now. It doesn't work. The unit itself freezes.... Now, I don't know how to contact K&H to return it. I think they sent me a defective product.
