If you think about a short story, the author has to be pretty good to capture your imagination and get you involved with either the characters or plot due to the limited of nature of words he or she has with these parameters. Jack Erickson does a good job of that, as I found myself able to quickly get into it and realized my heart rate increased a little bit as the action heated up, and I actually started rooting for the main character. The author has a nice writing style and this is a nice quick read, say for about 10 minutes, where you can read something good over your lunch break.

Without a spoiler, I will say there is also a nice little twist at the end I thought was a nice add. Thinking back on this short story, this really could be a full-length novel.

I'm looking forward to reading more from the author!

5.0 out of 5 stars A real page turner with a good finish March 16, 2011

This clearly written short story reads fast and keeps your attention until the very end. I enjoyed the descriptions of the environments and the people in the story.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly written May 12, 2011
By R. Towe
Format:Kindle Edition
What a waste of time. The writing style was seriously lacking and the end was just, for lack of a better word, stupid. Don't waste your time, there are MUCH better free books out there that will be a better use of your time.

1.0 out of 5 stars No! July 15, 2013

I'm sorry but the book is far to short to do justice to the plot, for me it wasn't believable nor well written and not worth the effort

3.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Crime July 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Book was decent as short story but the ending could have been improved. It got your attentiom well at beginning, held thru the middle - but needed more details to connect middle to end. The 5 month gap was my only real "complaint", although I also discovered I don't really want to read short crime stories.

2.0 out of 5 stars What? Not Even a "Short Story" July 7, 2013
By abraca
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wish I had known it was like a magazine short story, I wouldn't have bothered. I had no idea it was so short. Would love to have had more to read, it was good what little there was of it. It has excerpts of other "books" but how am I to know whether they are actually novels or not? Therefore, I didn't even read them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not great July 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Really standard stuff. One could figure it out after about three hundred words. One would hope that a mystery would baffle the reader. This one didn't.
