Book Description

April 6, 2006
The Perfect Dress is a thirty year saga of an orphaned girl growing up in Chicago, San Francisco and Hawaii. The main character, Mary Leigh Worth, is a bridal designer wannabe possessing fantastic skills in the field of design and creation but sabotages her career for a drop-dead gorgeous Egyptian-American airline pilot whom she cannot have due to a pre-arranged marriage he must fulfill. This news annihilates her and thus a downward spiral of destruction and despair emerge with plenty of incorrect life choices and colorful nightlife leading to rehabilitation and two unnecessary marriages, a bout with the FBI and murder. Set to the music of the 60's,70's and 80's, it is a book geared toward the female baby boomer or anyone that appreciates the oldies' music of the times.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Read, June 15, 2009
This review is from: The Perfect Dress (Paperback)
This is one of those books that was difficult to put down, wondering what new adventure or jam our heroine would find herself. I could really relate to some of the main character's capers, as I was a young woman at about the same time as she. I recommend this book to friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baby Boomers, Tennis Players & Fashion Buffs Must Read This Suspense Love Story, February 10, 2009
This review is from: The Perfect Dress (Paperback)
Mary Jane Cole has written one of those books that you just want to read more. The characters are intriguing and the protagonist is so real that I became immersed in her life. Chapter by chapter the story develops with drama, travel, creativity, addiction, tennis, romance, betrayal and suspense. Baby boomers can reminisce to the time period of their earlier adult lives while reading The Perfect Dress. It's an awesome fast paced read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Multi-topical Story, August 10, 2007
This review is from: The Perfect Dress (Paperback)
Mary Jane Cole covered so many sensitive topics within this story: cultural adversity, addiction, grief, compulsive behaviors, trans-gendering. However, it is ultimately a poignant love story with a twist of mystery that rounds out this multi-topical fictional piece.
