5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the weird cover art repel you,, November 15, 2011
this is one of Chesney's light, funny Regency romances. The lead characters, Andrew and Penelope, are very likeable and each have typical problems to deal with: she in enduring an unwanted Season sponsored by the overbearing Duchess (Andrew's mother) and he in escaping his engagement after realizing a proper, loveless Society marriage is not what he wants. In charactertistic Chesney style, the supporting cast is described with an amusing eye fo details, and there are laugh out loud funny moments. This book is not long on explanations. Things like the source of Penelope's father's debts or even what musical instrument she's good enough at to teach are left unsaid. Still, it's a perfect, undemanding escape for a weekend afternoon. While I don't really get what the cover art has to do with the book, I prefer it to the typical romance novel cover--think tackily dressed blondes and shirtless heros--which I'd be embarassed to be caught dead with!

Lord Andrew Childe is a perfect gentleman. He has never done anything wrong in his entire life UNTIL he met Penelope Mortimer--thanks to her mother's fondness for helping poor girls into society by giving them a Season in London.

Highly recommended!! It's one of my favorite book, not only it's funny, but it's also cute
