In 1995 Nick opened The Nick Chavez Salon in Beverly Hills, California. But the road that took him to the world's most famous zip code was paved with adventure. Nick grew up in a large Mexican American family outside of Yuma, Arizona. The son of a farmer, and third cousin of political activist Cesar Chavez, Nick's first job was as a ranch hand and stable boy. Here is where he discovered his talent for styling hair. For extra money, Nick taught himself how to groom horses' manes and tails for shows. He became so talented that the money he earned grooming allowed him to keep and show his own horses - something he still does today.

Nick took his talent from grooming show horses' to styling hair for his family and friends. After graduating from high school, he moved to LA and began a career as a hairdresser. On a fluke while visiting Paris, Nick walked into a model agency and landed a career as a runway model for high-profile designers such as Yves St. Laurent, Thierry Mugler, Swatch, Piaget, and Valentino. After moving back to the United States, Nick landed a recurring role on Young & the Restless and Hollywood Detectives.

But hairdressing was his true passion and he soon returned to Beverly Hills where he perfected his skills and built up his clientele. After years of working with a multitude of hair products, Nick decided to create his own hair care line that would work on all hair types and ethnicity. Today, Nick Chavez Perfect Plus(r) is the most successful beauty line and e-commerce leader on QVC, Inc.

Nick Chavez, is an actual Stylist who owns his on salon in Beverly Hills, whom I discovered through QVC. His products are excellent and so is his book. He has done an excellent job. His book is beautifully illustrated, and his tips and directions on how to syle and take care of your hair are easy to follow. He sincerely cares about a woman's hair and how she treats it. Nick covers every hair texture, which many books do not. One added bonus for those of us who are followers of Nick, he includes a wonderful little bio about how he got started, his relationship with QVC, and his family (wonderful picture of his beautiful family). Buy the book, his tips do work, and buy his products!

The book itself was great and very helpful. But what I wanted was a book that told me about all of his products and how to use them.

I have seen this guy on homeshopping network, and thought he had great tips on do's and don'ts for hair. And seems like a person who really cares for peoples hair. Started reading the book and finished before I went to bed. I don't much about hair but this book helped me to learn to care for my hair.
