If you want to learn EVERY aspect of how to Master "APPLIQUE", then you must know, that by the time you complete the projects in this book, you will be a "MASTER APPLIQUER". The Thimblelady, teaches you everything from getting the silk thread to stay on the needle without slipping off during stitching, to Appliquing the tiniest circles up to 1/10" in diameter. Learn how to make the steepest points with ease, and how to maniputlate them to behaving the way and in the direction you want everytime!! You will learn all the basic shapes, and exactly how to Master Needleturn Applique in each shape, and Why the Secret to Perfect Appliquing is in the "Seams", and why you must use the tightest cotton weaves mainly "Batiks", which will never Fray on you, no matter how small your seams are, and why they make such Beautiful and Perfect Applique Masterpieces. I am stunned and sad to discover that this book/DVD combo has gone out of print because it is the most complete course in hand stitched applique I have ever seen. If you find a copy of this book/DVD, grab it and hang on to it!

Better yet, go through the book step by step with Ms Newman, doing each project in turn. The steps are all based on butterflies that range from a beginner butterfly that looks charmingly childish to the masterwork butterfly that looks incredibly realistic. Along the way, you will learn how to deal successfully with every possible shape you might ever encounter in hand stitched applique. Inner curves, outer curves, narrow lines, tiny circles, long skinny points, you name it, it can be found in this book.

Have you ever wondered how it is possible to applique a dot less than a quarter inch in diameter without using any sort of fusible? The answer is in here and if you follow the course, you'll discover it is amazingly doable.

Ms Newman breaks the skills required down into tiny, logical steps that are easy to master one at a time. In twenty lessons, these tiny steps become all the skills needed for hand stitched applique.

Again, if you find a copy of this book/DVD, grab it and hold onto it. The greatest danger is from friends who see your applique once you've finished working through the book!
