4.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT
How could this movie go wrong, it stars two of my favorite actors. I thought a couple of the scenes were a little over the top. One of the story lines that impressed me was the integrity of John's character in keeping his sources confidential but also being such a sleeze when it came to getting a story. 1.0 out of 5 stars Grainy, pan and scan
Columbia is notorious for choosing full frame (pan and scan) over letterbox or anamorphic widescreen formats. Not only is Perfect NOT perfect because it's pan and scan, but the picture quality is awful--lots of grain, despite the claims about a digitally restored pic on the jacket.

Why spend your $$$ on this sloppy reissue when Amazon has thousands more to choose...

4.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT, April 27, 2009

How could this movie go wrong, it stars two of my favorite actors. I thought a couple of the scenes were a little over the top. One of the story lines that impressed me was the integrity of John's character in keeping his sources confidential but also being such a sleeze when it came to getting a story. The other story line was the obsession that people have about their bodies as if their appearance was all that mattered and their heads could be full of fluff. I would recommend this movie to anyone for just pure entertainment also. If I wanted totally intellectual movies or programs then I would go and immerse myself in deep thoughts like the scarecrow. If you want a movie that's easy on the eyes and brain that still carries an inner message then this is the one for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT 80's MOVIE !!!, July 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Perfect [VHS] (VHS Tape)
First off, If you did not live through the 80's you can't truly understand the concept behind this film. The 80's was all about fitness and aerobics! Gyms were opening up everywhere and the health craze was taking over. It was the beginning of making your workout a social event !! I was only 14 when I saw this movie (FOLLOWING FRIGHT NIGHT AT A DRIVE INN) and for some reason it struck a happy cord, even though at the time I may have not truly understood the meaning behind it all. Maybe the infectious 80's music did it? Maybe being only 14 and seeing all those HOT bodies shaking to the rhythm ? I had my Dad get me the soundtrack after. It's not like it's a horrible plot, there are worse 80's movies out there. This is John Travolta playing a reporter out to get a story on the GYM CRAZE and the relationships that develop behind it. What's so tacky about that? His acting is good. Jamie Lee Curtis looks awesome and her acting is great too! These two are GREAT together !!All I know is that this movie has stayed with me as one of my favorite 80's feel good movies. When I think of PERFECT it brings up nothing but positive feelings. Ohh the 80's !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars are you kidding me?, December 11, 2010
This review is from: Perfect (DVD)
anyone who watched this for plot and charecter development please, either get over yourself or simply step in front of the next bus you see. i like john travolta as an actor, well i have liked him for the last 15 years or so, i think he can play a bad guy with the best of them, but i have been ruined since seeing jamie running around in spandex for the entire movie. her in a unitard sweating and gyrating around is reason enough to buy 20 copies of this movie just to make sure you have one to replace when you wear out the first copy. the only thing even close to this as sexy is her striptease in "true lies" and even then its a far 2nd. i am a sexist and i am ok with that label women as "perfect" as JLC deserve the admiration that only a sexist can supply
JLC if you read these, you single handedly made spandex and lycra a verb noun and adjective all at once and areobics a form of foreplay
i thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars great movie, September 1, 2008
This review is from: Perfect [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have read many substandard and insulting reviews about this movie and I have to say "GROW UP" It is amazing how many people take a movie and dismiss it as total garbage. It doesn't matter what it is, It could have been a blockbuster motion picture that sold billions of dollars yet some poor sap will find anything to write that is insulting about any movie. Perfect, was by no means a blockbuster hit nor the greatest movie I have seen, yet it was fun, entertaining and had a good plot. If those people who are paid to criticize movies would take a closer look at the caliber of the movie and it's title and say "oh yeah, now I get it" The word perfect is used quite frequently in the film to generalize a situation or make a sound statement, as does the fit bodies featured in the film. Take a look at this film with an open mind, dismiss it however you choose. I thought it was a good movie. It has all the aspects of human nature we all want to portray but sometimes can't, looks, personality and popularity. It seems those that do the reviews for movies have none of the above.

This movie is one of the movies I lost in the storm. Jamie Lee Curtis worked her you know what off as an Aerobics Instructor! Glad you guys had one available for me. I don't need to say much about the chin dimpled one...he is awsome!

I'm so glad 'Perfect' has been released on DVD. I'm sure my video tape is grateful after numerious viewings of this film. I don't see how some people don't like this film, I think it's quiet good. And for all the John Travolta fans out there, you will love the work out sessions in this film.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Aerobics Pied-Piper, August 24, 2002
This review is from: Perfect (DVD)
Major popcorn movie. No, not Oscar-caliber by any means, but a fun way to kill a couple of hours. Very much a product of its era (the 1980's), which is part of its appeal these days, a major flashback. If you're looking to relive the days of the Jane Fonda workout backed by the music of the Pointer Sisters, Dan Hartman, Berlin and a young (then yet unknown) Whitney Houston duetting with Jermaine Jackson, this is what you've been looking for. The plot is somewhat laughable (John Travolta as an ethically questionable Rolling Stone reporter in lust/love with aerobics instructor Jamie Lee Curtis, who is trying to hide a bit of a dicey past), but it's still a good time, what with the workout scenes and all the talk of promiscuous sex. Ignore the story for the most part and concentrate on the silliness that was the 1980's and you're in for a treat. Jamie Lee Curtis shines as always (and was in the best physical shape of her life). Good flick, goofy and mostly light fare.

Screw Siskel & Ebert and their thumbs(down). This movie is PERFECT because it has my two of my favorite people, star John Travolta and supporter Laraine Newman. Newman,Jamie Lee Curtis and Marilu Henner are three beautiful women who show their PERFECT bodies in this film. However, many say that this film is the worst of Travolta's career. Carly Simon didn't have to throw her bloody Mary in Travolta's face. This film is a must for Rolling Stone subscribers, health club members and of course,John Travolta fans.
