The Perfect Man... and a near perfect soundtrack!,
By Housewives Connoisseur (Coolville, Ohio 45723) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Perfect Man, The (Audio CD)
I bought this soundtrack shortly before the film came out, much in part because of my anticipation for the film. I also love soundtracks because they combine many different types of music and artists, and usually mirror the high and low points of the film. This soundtrack does all that. After seeing the film last night (which is actually quite good, don't listen to bitter skeptics) the soundtrack is even better than it was before. I have decided to do a track by track review instead of one big one because it is a soundtrack and each song is very different.
1. Howie Day- "Collide" (5/5) This song is so nice and mellow and Howie Day's voice is very sexy and relaxing. I loved this song when I first saw the video on VH1 and love it now. Great song and great start to the soundtrack! 2. Kaci- "I Will Learn To Love Again" (5/5) This song is the best on the soundtrack by far! Diane Warren, arguably the best songwriter of all time penned it and this Kaci girl brings an intense passion to it with her powerful voice. This song is kind of the theme of the movie, and it couldn't be better! 3. Kimberly Locke- "Better Than This" (5/5) Kimberley Locke is one of the best singers American Idol has ever turned out-- her first album, One Love was very enjoyable, and this song does not dissapoint. 4. Plumb- "Real Life Fairytale" (5/5) This song is probably second favorite on the album next to number 2. It is so uplifting and catchy and really catches the feel good essence of the film. It's fabulous! 5. Jordan Lavik- "Let It Go" (5/5) This song is a lot like Howie Day's "Collide" and is every bit as good. This guy might be unknown, but keep an eye out- he could be a huge star! 6. Sara Overall- "Real Thing" (4/5) This song is also a very good feel good song for the movie. I only give it 4 stars because the girl's voice kind of gets on my nerves. 7. Beth Thornley- "If You Got What You Came For" (4/5) This song is very different and has more of a rock edge compared to the more pop sound of the beginning of the CD. Anyhow, I like this song a lot and it's a good addition to the soundtrack. 8. Grits- "Make Room" (5/5) This song was totally unexpected- it's a rap song that seemed out of place when I first listened to it. But it really diversifies the soundtrack and for a rap song, it's actually quite good and makes me want to move! A surprisingly wonderful addition! 9. Dennis Deyoung- "Mr. Roboto" (4/5) Fans of the 80's will really appreciate these next four songs by Styx frontman Dennis Deyoung. They are live tracks of some of Syyx's most famous hits sung by the lead singer Dennis Deyoung live. This will make much more sense after you have seen the film. I will go ahead and tell you. One of the men Heather Locklear dates in the film is a huge Styx fan and takes her to a concert of theirs to impress her. He also sings "Lady" to her in one of the funniest scenes in the movie while trying to impress her. The reason this got 4 stars is because the song is kind of cheesy- but it's in good taste if you like the 80's or have seen the movie. 10. Dennis Deyoung- "Lady" (5/5) This is one of the better songs by Dennis Deyoung on the soundtrack. If you have seen the movie, all these songs by him are very funny when you listen to them because of their relation to the plot. Anyhow, this is actually quite a good song and the live 80's feel to the end of the CD is actually quite cool and diversifies the soundtrack. 11. Dennis Deyoung- "It's You Babe" (5/5) This is also a very catchy song that I rather enjoy. Dennis Deyoung has a very smooth and enjoyable voice and his songs make a nice addition to the soundtrack, which is mostly youthful pop. 12. Dennis Deyoung- "Best Of Times (4/5) Also a great song and a nice closer to the album, but I wish it was a little shorter. Other than that, it's great! Total score: 56/60 93% A- This CD is great- if you enjoyed the movie or just enjoyable a great mix of pop, easy listening, rock, rap and 80's then pick it up! Also go see the movie, it's not bad like everyone says. Hilary and Heather- you have great performances-- keep up the good work, I love you both, especially you Hilary! Peace Out everyone, G-Dawg

The Perfect Soundtrack,
By
This review is from: Perfect Man, The (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is very good. It is good and makes me either relaxed or active. It has great feel-good compilation of songs. When I listen, I have a lot of good feelings in it. I have either rock or soft feeling. On the last four tracks, it is a live version; it is quite a surprise for me. It is good CD overall and you should get it.

Fits with the movie,
By Red "KCSW" (Utah) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Perfect Man, The (Audio CD)
I, myself, thought the movie was quite fun to watch. It wasn't boring, and the activities never seemed to stop. The songs did add a lot to the movie. Although some people did not like some of the songs, others did. My favorites were "I will learn to love again,", and of course "Mr. Roboto." But who am I to say if its good? You watch the movie, listen to the music, then decide.
