There Are Two Ways,
By "louis0000" (Paris, France) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Perfect Matrimony or The Door to Enter into Initiation (Paperback)
As a long-time investigator of many different spiritual teachings, I have been exposed to just about every concept and idea one can imagine. Through out the world there are so many "rules" and "laws" and "unshakable" doctrines, it is near impossible for any seeker to find out just what is the truth. That coupled with the Doubt and Cynicism that characterizes the Western mind makes it an unmistakable miracle when anyone finds something that is actually True. There are so many false teachers and false teachings; there are so many books and so many schools: how does anyone find anything and stick to it?The truth is, I have seen everyone I know (including myself) go from school to school, from teaching to teaching and from idea to idea, always looking for something more interesting, something more true to what I believe to be true: and THAT is the catch: I finally figured it out: I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LOOKING FOR WHAT I LIKE. The problem is, what I like is what has always gotten me into trouble. It's as if I have been trying to fix the problem with the problem. Honestly speaking, since I began looking for spiritual truth, and real experiences, I have been running around and around in the same dumb circles, precisely because I never changed MYSELF. Changing ideas and schools was really my way of avoiding changing. And those times when I fanatically fought for a school or a belief, I was fighting to protect what made me feel like ME. What this book helped me to see is that there are in truth only Two Ways in life. There is the way to change for the better, and there is the way to change for the worse. The problem is, most people only want to take the easy, pleasant, desire-fulfilling way (which, naturally, is the way to change for the worse: because we become more lazy, more fanatical, more full of ourselves, etc.). The way to change for the better is painful precisely because the old me must die. He says in this book that there is one path to reunite with God. It's true: but that path goes in two directions: towards Him, and away from Him. If we follow our minds, our desires, our habits, our whispering thoughts, they will take us only deeper into suffering. The path to Him is the path of INTUITION and comes from the heart. It is the heart that knows the Truth simply because it is true. It is the mind that sows doubt. Be aware, and read this book carefully. It is not as simple as it seems.

What is necessary to awaken positively?,
This review is from: The Perfect Matrimony or The Door to Enter into Initiation (Paperback)
First published in 1950, this book was the first public revelation of the essential secret knowledge of every mystical tradition. Samael Aun Weor is direct and clear in his explanation of the practices necessary to awaken the consciousness POSITIVELY. Few know that everything in nature is a polarity, thus many who believe they are awakening positively are awakening negatively. Few know that most spiritual and mystical traditions have lost the most essential tools to lead their disciples to their own direct personal experience of the divine. Few know that many schools now lead their disciples (knowingly or unknowingly) into grave errors. This book clarifies and restores the knowledge contained in every school, lodge, religion and doctrine, outlining the underlying knowledge that all traditions spring from. An absolutely essential book for anyone who aspires to rise above the mire of the common and vulgar mind.

Completely Misunderstood and Underestimated,
By
This review is from: The Perfect Matrimony or The Door to Enter into Initiation (Paperback)
Theories and beliefs abound like weeds, we all know this. What is the point of reading another one? In truth, there is no point. That is why this book deserves all the praise in the world. It has nothing to do with theory, but rather with practical life. Nothing is more practical than sex, for it is the universal epicenter. Samael Aun Weor was hated by many occultist because he unveiled what was veiled. Occultism's Great Arcanum is Sex, and the secret of the initates is Love. This book is authentic Rosicrucian Occultism. The Perfect Matrimony was the first book I read to make any sense of life's sexual issues. So many people today read the scriptures with disdain because society does not teach now to understand them. This is the first book that actually teaches one how to understand the so-called "antiquated" sexual conduct outlined in every religion. Society's utter disregard with the sacred Holy Cross of Man and Woman is more than ample evidence to prove that we do not understand anything about sex. The Perfect Matrimony is direct opposition with both modern religion and the materialistic philosophy that has engendered so much fanatical asceticism and hedonism. This book is not about locking sex up into a concept ("only for procreation") nor is it about pleasure ("have sex with everyone"), but rather it is about comprehending sex. It turns out this is something very difficult. How can we be "born again" if we do not first "die;" how can we be "born again" if we do not understand sex? How can anything be born without sex? What exactly is Jesus telling Nicodemus? The answers are in this book! The author wrote what he experienced, and simply gives the methods to confirm what he wrote. It is up to the reader if he or she wishes to take up those methods. But, to the one who reads this book, let it be known that you will not really understand any of it until you have begun to live it. Spending time with theories and making judgments is something we must end; it makes no sense for someone who has not begun these exercises to make any comments on it. This book is not about flattery, nor is it is not about gaining occult powers. If you are into mysticism and occultism just because it is different and you like the idea of magic powers or occult conspiracies, then waste time somewhere else. This book is just the simple truth, and the truth is harsh. If you are not ready to look at yourself and your life honestly, then go elsewhere. The Perfect Matrimony was written for the person looking for the nothing but the truth, something anterior to our opinions, our family, culture, our particular esoteric society, sect or school. It has nothing to do with the number of rare volumes on our book self, nor the number of years we have spent memorizing them. If you are honestly looking for the Absolute, if you are done wasting time in fascinating theory, if you have finally realized that even the most beautiful theory and good intentions mean nothing, if you would rather die than to remain in ignorance, then maybe this book is for you. If you are like a butterfly, hopping from flower to flower, from school to school, from theory to theory, if you are a curious cat, looking to for a new doctrine to explore and talk about, then do not read this book, as it will only cause great harm. Patience and practice will open the doors of superior observation and then this book is no longer theory, but a living reality. This book changed my life.
