Editorial Reviews

Review

"...the story catches one up in it for the duration and author has been a documentary editor and film maker himself, making the background authoritative. A thriller that really does thrill." -- Jessica Mann LITERARY REVIEW "There's a convincing plot here, full of twists and turns." -- Mark Timlin THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY "A conspiracy thriller I can happily recommend to fans of Robert Goddard." -- Mat Coward MORNING STAR "Peter Grimsdale can tell a convincing story with writing that is cliche-free and utterly enthralling." THE GUARDIAN "This intelligently written first novel keeps the reader guessing throughout. A good combination mystery/thriller." DEADLY PLEASURES "Peter Grimsdale, a former TV journalist and executive, makes his impressive debut as a novelist with Perfect Night. A thrillingly good read that certainly doesn't come across like a first novel. Given Grimsdale's TV past the details about Nick's past on a World in Action or This Week style investigative show certainly ring true. He throws in more than enough twists and turns to keep you well hooked. A fast paced story of Robert Goddard-esque proportions." MEMORABLE TV.COM --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

More About the Author

I was born in Yorkshire, England in 1955 and raised in Sheffield, but my education included stints at High School in East Brunswick, New Jersey (1974) and a scholarship to Georgetown University (1977) where I majored in American Studies and won the Wagner Award for Fiction. After a year's work experience as a reporter for Pacifica National Radio in Washington DC I returned to London and joined the BBC, where I worked in factual programming. 'Siva's People' a film about the Tamil community in Sri Lanka was the inspiration for my first novel, PERFECT NIGHT. In 1994 I became a Commissioning Editor at Channel Four where my responsibilities ranged from historical documentary to Big Brother. I still work in TV as a freelance producer and writer with credits including The History Channel's acclaimed Story of US, a multi-part history of America. PERFECT NIGHT draws heavily on my TV experiences, researching in film archives very like the one Nick Roker, the narrator gets fired from. JUST WATCH ME, my second thriller, leans on my life a father of young children, managing the fear of anything terrible happening to them. I'm a great believer in good coming out of bad; the idea was triggered by the nightmare of going on holiday to the Carribean and discovering at check-in that my (then) five year old daughter's passport had just expired. So after you've bought the book, go check your passports!
