5.0 out of 5 stars You have to Love JAK's writing style...
JAK has a unique writing style that I absolutely love! It just seems to me people either love her or hate her! 1.0 out of 5 stars A very BIG disappointment
JAK books are, imho, one of the best in the market right now.Her stories are spun from a truly talented mind, with determined yet understanding heroines and dark brooding heroes, and laced with humour and wit that never fail to bring smiles and laughter. PERFECT PARTNERS however, sadly lacked this winning JAK formula. It comes across as an absolutely frustrating novel,...

5.0 out of 5 stars You have to Love JAK's writing style..., June 16, 2005
This review is from: Perfect Partners (Paperback)
JAK has a unique writing style that I absolutely love! It just seems to me people either love her or hate her! I grab her books wherever I can find them, and they stay on my keeper shelf labeled: "Comfort Books." Her hero's are very "Alpha," and her heroines just hysterical! Joel has built the heroine's Uncle's company from the Ground floor and has arranged to buy him out, but before he can, Uncle Charlie dies and has willed his company to his midwestern librarian niece Letty. She feels this is exactly the sort of change her life needs. Joel's outraged but stuck with Letty who is serious about her new position in the sporting good company. Meanwhile he's in the middle of a revenge plot against an old adversary and doesn't want Letty to stand in the way. They have a bickering attraction to one another in pure JAK style. They do address each other as Mr. Blackstone and Ms. Thornquist occasionally, as another reviewer complained about. It's not that JAK is in the "Dark Ages." It's all part of the humorous struggle between the two. Granted some of these books do date back over ten years. Along the way is Letty's stubborn ex-fiancé who just adds more humor to the tale. This is one of my favorite JAK's. Keep in mind; it's just fun fiction! I'll even admit that I might slap a restraining order on some of her hero's if it were real life.

So you know where my taste lie, it might help further to know that some of my favorite authors are Julie Garwood, Amanda Quick (a.k.a. Jayne Ann Krentz), Gaelen Foley, Lavyrle Spencer, Dorothy Garlock, Linda Howard, Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kinley MacGregor, Susan Anderson, Rebecca York, Lauren Bach, Nora Roberts, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, and Karen Robards. Just to name a few...Hope this is helpful.

I like reading about smart intelligent women and intelligent men. The plot was very realistic also. I also love happy endings and this was a story with one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, October 17, 1997

This review is from: Perfect Partners (Paperback)
Joel and Letty were witty and wonderful. This book, like all Ms. Krentz's, has a mix of romance, humor, and family. If you like witty dialog and well-drawn charactors, you will love this book. Almost as good as her book Wildest Dreams, which is #1 in my mind and heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderfully Rich Story!, April 24, 2006
This review is from: Perfect Partners (Paperback)
"Perfect Partners" is a wonderfully rich story! JAK had me chuckling from start to finish. JAK furthermore has mastered storytelling by keeping the story narrow in scope (ie. tight and lucid), but exploring every aspect of that scope. Here in "Perfect Partners" we have Letty Thornquist, an ex-librarian from Indiana. She has come to Seattle in order to claim her inheritance - Thornquist Gear, a successful corporation (which by the way reminds me of REI) that CEO Joel Blackstone practically created from start to finish. Joel Thornquist is royally pissed about her arrival. Letty's uncle had after all promised to sell Joel the company before his untimely death. Since Joel has proprietary feelings toward Thornquist Gear, he sets out to show Letty who is the boss, but in attempting to do so, falls hard for Letty.

"Perfect Partners" also has a wonderful cast of secondary characters. They include the arrogant and obtuse Professor Phillip Dixon who doesn't take the hint that Letty is over him until he walks in on a deja vu kind of scene; Stephanie Thornquist, a sophisticated and superficially blonde ice-maiden who cracks under the pressure of pregnancy; Arthur Bigley, Letty's harried and socially awkward executive assistant and so on.

This book like so many of JAK's books is a must read. For other excellent JAK books, I recommend: "Wildest Hearts;" "Trust Me," "Family Man," "Grand Passion," "Sweet Fortune," and "Hidden Talents,"

Excellent characterizations. A clever, imperfect heroine, a hero you can fall in love with, and a satisfying plot. What more can you ask?

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Partners, October 21, 2002

Letty Thornquist inherits Thornquist Gear from her uncle. But Letty's uncle had promised to sell Thornquist Gear to Joel Blackstone. Joel was the one to transform the company from a store into an empire single handedly while Letty's uncle was literally out fishing. Much to Joel's annoyance, Letty decides to take control of the company. There wasn't a big mystery in this novel--unlike most of Jayne Ann Krentz's novels. Perfect Partners was very, very funny. I don't regret reading it.

This review is from: Perfect Partners (Hardcover)
When you read a book and:

1 You can't put it down till you finish it.

2 You see women on par with men.

3 You see respect in both genders.

4 You learn that even in your worst mood you have to listen to other people.

5 You understand that everybody has its own fears.

6 You thought you knew how'll it finish and you were wrong.

The book deserves SIX stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars LAUGH OUT LOUD, April 28, 2007

This review is from: Perfect Partners (Paperback)
Let me say up front that I'm a long time fan of this author. I have read all her Quick books and love them. However with me living in a rather remote part of the world it has been rather hard finding her Krentz titles until I dicovered Amazon. So at this late date I have just finished reading Perfect Partners. I loved the fact that it made me laugh out loud(got a couple of sideways looks from my husband)I was rather sad lately to find Ms Krentz usually sparkling style slightly faded and though she seems to be coming out of this phase nicely (Second Sight, All night long) it made my heart good to read a nice romp like this one.

It comes across as an absolutely frustrating novel, with a bossy and oftentimes irritating heroine, and a narrow-minded henpecked hero.Definitely the worst JAK book around.

2.0 out of 5 stars The characters are not particularly likeable..., February 25, 2011
This review is from: Perfect Partners (Kindle Edition)
I've you've read any other books by JAK from the nineties, you've read this one. There is nothing particulary different about this one except that the MCs are a bit less likeable. The hero is bland and 'damaged' and I suppose it's hard to like a heroine who comes in and inherits a business promised by the previous owner to the hero and she had never asked for it or made any sort of conrtibution before inheriting it while the hero had worked for the company for 10 years and basically built it into the business it became. As stated in the book, it was just business, but that doesn't make it fair(I know life isn't fair, but this is a romance novel after all). In the end, I only finished the book to read to the point where she would do the right thing and let the hero have the business he'd worked so hard for and I hope it doesn't spoil anything that she does offer it to him and the henpecked nitwit only accepts half in the spirit of cooperation and love... barf.
