Great Company Cooking,
By A Customer
This review is from: Perfect Pasta (Paperback)
Once again, Anne Willan brings us a cookbook that is clear, easy to use, and great for impressing others. I would put this book on my list of "company cookbooks" - for when I want to entertain and revel in the compliments of what a great cook I am. Anne's cookbooks are well known for being easy to follow and full of beautiful photos that make the directions clear. It is not impossible to get results very close to the photos. Some recipies are packed with red meat or heavy cream, so if you are watching what you eat, pick your recipies carfully. Some recipies are a little more adverturious than others, but there are some good basics.

Very nice book, okay pasta instructions,
This review is from: Perfect Pasta (Anne Willan's Look and Cook) (Hardcover)
This is a beautiful book and has loads of photos. But it leaves a little with its "step by step" guidance. The book might be fine for those who enjoy American style spaghetti and meatballs but I have a little training in classical pasta making and when I saw that this begins with an Atlas-style pasta maker, I got it. But it is rather basic which is fine for beginners, but it does not offer much in the way of genuine and traditional Italian-style pasta making. To me, that is the only method that should be taught, otherwise just open up a can of Chef Boyardee and especially don't waste your time getting an Atlas-style maker.
